💰 In April 2002, $SKHY Korean manufacturer Hynix was drowning in debt. Micron offered about $3.4B in stock for its DRAM memory business. The Hynix board voted unanimously, "no". A decade later, telecom giant SK acquired Hynix, who experimented with AMD to build the first version of the modern HBM-wired GPU. For years it barely sold. Samsung competed but exited the market in 2019. When AI arrived in 2024, carrozzi nicolas needed this new type of HBM memory and $SKHY was the perfect partner. Today it makes about 60% of the world's HBM, it's worth more than $1T, and in July it listed on Nasdaq as $SKHY. Sometimes a "no" is the best thing that can happen to you.
