An inevitable death in Stranger Things Season 5? The Duffer Brothers promised “the most brutal death in the show’s history,” likely happening in the finale on Dec 31 For it to really hit, it has to be a main character Max emotional damage So who’s the top contender? Eleven - 53% on Polymarket Her powers constantly take a physical toll. Back in Season 2 it was said her abilities would eventually kill her If she goes all-in against Vecna in the finale, that could be fatal Her connection to Vecna is unique. She might be the only one who can truly stop him Possibly with her “sister” and Will Byers She opened the gate in the beginning, so it makes sense she’d be the one to close it Dying from pushing her powers too far feels like a full-circle ending. // Steve Harrington - 15% on Polymarket One of the most beloved characters, which makes him perfect for a tragic death There’s a trailer scene where Dustin hugs Steve in a very emotional moment classic movie foreshadowing Or a fake-out The Duffers even joked about it, knocking over a Steve figurine. Steve was originally meant to die in Season 1, but Joe Keery was so good they kept him Kinda wild His death could also resolve the Steve-Nancy-Jonathan love triangle. // Jonathan Byers - 17% on Polymarket There’s a theory he sacrifices himself to save Nancy and Will Charlie Heaton appears in final scenes, but wasn’t spotted on set in Dec 2024, which might hint he dies before the finale. // Will Byers - 16% on Polymarket The show started with Will’s disappearance. It could end with his sacrifice His unique link to Vecna hive mind makes him special An actor quote: “The show started with Will and will end with Will” In Season 1, Eleven closing the gate didn’t kill Will, even though it killed Demogorgons Now Will has control over similar power and is part of the hive mind If the hive mind dies or the gate closes, does Will die too? // The creators said every character’s ending has to feel right Season 5 isn’t as brutal overall as Season 4, but it does include the most brutal death in the series At least one death will be extremely graphic and emotional. I’ve been watching since 2016. Almost 10 years. End of an era. Waiting for the finale. What do you think? Did you even watch the show? Polymarket will tell us where the truth is.
