Since Gemini 3 came out I haven't been able to stop thinking about the idea of personalized software - the idea that you can just make whatever app you need. Where I keep getting stuck is that it still makes me feel like the joy is in creation while consumption is still very much ephemeral. I keep making new things, but I don't persistently use any of them (nor do I really want to). Here's a good example: Gemini 3 fully one-shotted this poem explorer that gives you one poem a day, that explains each line at hover, and offers suggested questions to explore the theme further. It's pretty good! But I suspect I feel more joy and delight that it was able to make it vs. actually finding something like this... useful? Maybe the soonest, most effective type of personal software is games because they're comfortably transient - I can play for a bit, have fun, and keep trying other games (Roblox model) - and that can be the whole point.

Try out Gemini Code: a coding assistant in your terminal powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro. 💜 💜 Release Notes: → It's easy to get started, just run `pip install gemini-code` in a virtual environment, and then run `gemini` to initialize it. It requires your own API key, so don't forget to get one from → I built this because I love Claude Code and wanted a similar experience -- I like that I can just use my own API key and Gemini is generally way cheaper as well. → Found a bug? Feel free to fork the code and fix it (lol)! If you want to try to improve it, please do so - repo is public! → Reminder and a disclaimer that I don't work at Google and this is not an official Google project - just a weekend side hack → It is highly likely you'll get throttled by rate limits - I put as much info as I can in the guide so you know what behavior to expect when that happens. You can also set which default model to use if you want to switch to 1.5 Pro.

1/ 👋🏼 Quick update on what we’ve been working on: Since leaving Google in December, we built a bunch of prototypes to explore different directions but in the last 30 days we spent more time with one focused idea and went deeper to take it to a fully working state. As a PM in meetings for most of my day, I was always switching between tabs—jumping from one app to another to get insights about my customers, the business, and what the team should be prioritizing. We wanted to simplify this flow and cut down the time spent digging through different sources to make decisions. What if you could flatten all those sources and tools into one tab? What if you could just talk to your business? Connect your business data from Salesforce, Zendesk, Slack, etc. and get insights in minutes—not hours—fully cited, with transparent agent reasoning across all sources. ▶️ See exactly how the system derives its answer (ex. the Salesforce SOQL query + custom Zendesk filters) ▶️ Multi-pass agentic flow: determines which source/s to use, takes a broad query, applies heuristics to refine, unifies data across different sources, and improves with user feedback ▶️ Reports automate what you want to track (I would’ve killed for a daily Discord report on what the NotebookLM community was saying)

New favorite use case: take a walking tour with NotebookLM 👟👟 I’m on vacation and there are lots of historical sights I want to learn about! Here’s what I tried: ⚪️ Loaded up sources about the Castel Sant’Angelo ⚪️ Customized the Deep Dive for a walking tour, focus on interesting facts ⚪️ Went on a walk along the Tiber River, listening to my 10 min Audio Overview! Feedback: 🔵 Need a mobile app. So much easier for audio controls, especially when your screen is locked 🔵 After it ended, I had more questions. Would be great to interrupt and ask a question or suggest an episode 2 🔵 After listening, I had to pause to queue up another Deep Dive based on what I found interesting in the first one, which took a lot of time to get more sources, generate, customize, etc. All while in the middle of my river walk. Not great. Need to simplify. 🔵 After listening, I thought - how cool would it be if I could share my 3 episodes about Castel Sant’Angelo with my family (on vacation with me) and we could all listen together? Other group features? Hmm!

When we launched Huxe in September, I knew we were on to something special. It’s a simple enough idea: what if AI could go first? What would it take to make something really thoughtful, made especially for you? No prompts (or screen) needed - just a carefully curated list of bite sized podcasts you could listen to that were thought provoking, interesting, useful. Thanks to our thousands of users (and everyone in the Discord), in the last month we’ve learned a lot about what people want from personalized AI - particularly audio - and we’re excited to share a ton of updates today that make the app even better. Here are some of the highlights:

Cool voice technology today mostly only works for you if you already have an internal monologue going. So with Huxe we flipped the script: what if we started from a place where you don't have to do any work to make the AI work for you? Don't need to ask questions, no prompts required, just an app that gets to know you and creates cool stuff for you automatically. I really think there's a super interesting foundation for proactive, personalized AI delivered via audio, and it all starts with thoughtful passive content. Longer convo on YouTube / Spotify with Ellis and Alex:
