They noticed a Fortuner vehicle (MH 03 AH 7863) parked in a way that obstructed traffic. When contacted, the vehicle's registered owner stated that the vehicle wasn't theirs and someone was using their number plate. A search revealed a pistol-like weapon inside. A driving license belonging to Rajendra Nikam was found. Further checks showed Nikam had previous cases in Mumbai. He was apprehended and handed over to Khadkeswar Police Station for further investigation.

The incident happened around 9:50 pm when a BEST bus, operating on route number 332 between Kurla and Andheri stations, lost control and veered onto the footpath. The bus, which was an electric vehicle, crashed into several vehicles and pedestrians in a congested market area opposite Anjuman-e-Islam school on SG Barve marg at Kurla West. Preliminary investigations suggest that brake failure may have been the cause of the accident. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, including Bhabha Hospital, for medical treatment. The incident has raised concerns about road safety and the need for stricter measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
