Archimedes' principle used in rescuing an elephant fallen in a well. The rule says that any object partially or completely submerged in a fluid experiences an upward force equal in magnitude to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.

Dhikala Chaud – Nature’s own amphitheatre. For decades, this unique landscape has been a front-row seat to the who’s who of Indian wildlife; tigers, leopards, Gharial, Deers and massive herds of elephants. A rare blend of grasslands, riverine terrain, majestic foothills.

Parachute fall of Sal seeds has started across the Sal jungles of India. Forest floors are carpeted with winged Sal seed these days. Earlier Sal seeds used to be collected for extracting oil. Medha Nayak shows how the Sal seeds fall like a mini helicopter.

It took more than 6 months to get the jump start executed. The female bird in Naliya, Gujrat was ringed. The bird gave an infertile egg. Incubated fertile at 37 degree C was taken from Sam, Rajasthan to Naliya by road covering 770 kms in 19 hours. The sterile egg was swapped with incubated fertile egg. It was nuanced and challenging task. Kudos to team WII, FD Gujarat and FD Rajasthan.

The tiger is a monk. It won't bother you, or be bothered by you. It tries to maintain its composure as much as it can. Even if you are around it, it will most likely be unfazed. And even when a tiger expresses its aggression, it is mock. It's a construct.

Waterholes are places to sight tigers in summers. A beautiful capture from Sariska Tiger Reserve. One of the nearest place from Delhi to sight a tiger. Once devoid of tigers, Sariska is full of tigers today. A great story of successful tiger reintroduction. Rajasthan Forest Department

Patrolling in Terai specially in Dudhwa is quite challenging during monsoons. Patrol elephants help in accessing inundated areas and wet grasslands in this tough time. Hats off to our green guards. #MonsoonPatrolling National Tiger Conservation Authority VC: Sujoy Banerjee

Tigers were raining in Pilibhit as someone said after his recent visit to the reserve. Tigers could be seen in everywhere even crossing Sharda canal. When I got first tiger census done there in 2001, we could hardly get 17 tigers and now it’s 60 plus.
