Namaste On February 12th 2026 we cleared the temple pond belonging to Cholakkara Durga temple in Malappuram as part of reclaiming the same. There was some objections from the encroachers. The govt survey didn't happen as there was a general strike on that day. We will demarcate boundaries and fence the temple pond after the government survey. The reclaiming of this pond is essential as during Devaprashnam done ten years back, it was revealed that many Vigrahas of the ancient temple were dumped in the pond after destruction in 1921 Moplah riots. We have to recover those Deities for the revival to be completed. #ReclaimTemples

The Chief Priest of the temple has drowned and died unnaturally in the sacred temple pond and a cow in the temple compound also has been found unnaturally dead by a knot of its own rope on the neck. In 2016, Moplah encroachers succeeded in getting a court stay against restoration of the SankaraNarayana temple in Malappuram and got criminal cases registered on devotees for praying at the temple. In 2024, UgraNarasimha Charitable Trust restarted worship at the temple ruins. The impleading application by UgraNarasimha Charitable Trust in ongoing court case is being opposed by Moplah encroachers. The attempt is to delay the case as much as possible and prevent restoration of the temple. We will not give up, we will restore this temple. #ReclaimTemples

The police investigation and inquest has concluded that death is by drowning. This is second known death by drowning in the temple pond. The presence of a very powerful and fierce Goddess Bhadrakali is evident in the temple, who is not worshiped now. Also certain vastu errors has been found in earlier restorations done. The temple is thousands of years old and in the category of Mahakshethra. UgraNarasimha Charitable Trust will revive the temple, following all rituals and as per temple vastu shastra. The revival of Cholakkara Durga temple in Malappuram is the triumph of Dharma over all evil. Innumerable hurdles had to be overcome to revive this ancient temple destroyed during the 1921 Moplah riots. Thanks to all who supported and contributed to make this happen. Thanks to Shri Girish Kaimal for contributing the ceiling of the temple in the name of his parents Shri GopalaKrishnan Kaimal and Smt Radha Kaimal. Restoration of the temple till the ceiling is complete, the work of the temple kitchen is ongoing. We will complete the rest of the restoration work and restart worship of Cholakkara Durga Devi soon. Archaeological Survey of India Archaeological Survey of India has banned Hindus from worshipping Shivling at Ghara Puri/ Elephanta caves. A large number of guards have been deployed to prevent Hindus from offering prayers. However we have performed jal abhishek of two Shivling at this ancient temple and will do it again. Banning worship at Hindu temples is a regressive jihadi mindset and is against the Indian constitution. We will restart worship at all such temples. Follow Reclaim Temples
