A parent of a Grade 10 learner at Milnerton High School in Cape Town has come forward with saying that her son endured bullying, physical attacks, ongoing harassment, and psychological torment from a group of boys, some of whom play on the school's premier Rugby team. The parent highlighted that these 18-year-old athletes, who should embody resilience, self-control, and role-model qualities, have instead resorted to threats and violence against peers. Speaking up for their child as well as for any other student whose pleas have been overlooked or brushed aside, the parent underscored the school's fundamental obligation to safeguard every learner's well-being and security. Ben Kholofelo Maphothoma, a local DJ at a Randburg club, was murdered on Sunday, 24/08 2025. Ben was shot twice in the chest by Simphiwe Hadebe, who is alleged to be a project manager at the Johannesburg Municipality. The footage shows Simphiwe kicking Ben on the ground, who is injured from the gunshot wounds. The motive is alleged to be linked to competition between clubs. Ben's murderer is currently out on bail until 5 December 2025, when his court case is set to begin, because, you know, money is more important to the state than actually keeping murderers off the streets.
