The Cardinals are closing in on a deal with INF Ramón Urías (31) per Jeff Jones Urías had a down year in 2025 offensively slashing .241/.292/.384 for a .675 OPS and a 88 OPS+ with 11 homers, though for his career he is a .257/.321/.403 hitter for a .723 OPS and a 104 OPS+. In 2025 Urías was good against left handed pitchers posting a .262/.322/.421 slash line. Urías also bounced back defensively posting 5 OAA and 12 DRS after posting -9 OAA and -3 DRS in 2024. This allowed Urías to post a 2.2 bWAR despite a down offensive campaign. Urías has put up 1.5 or more bWAR every season since 2021. Urías brings a consistent player who can play in both a bench or starters role at 2B or 3B and should be the veteran presence the Cardinals were looking for this offseason.

Breaking down the Brendan Donovan Trade 🧵: SWP- Jurrangelo Cijntje (AA) Cijntje is a switch pitcher who is much more proficient from the right side than the left side, even to the point where Seattle wasn't going to use the left hand this season. From the right side he boasts a mid to high 90s fastball touching 98 with good movement, and then a mid 80s slider which is his best complementary pitch. The changeup is hard and while it's his third best pitch, getting him the Cardinals organization should help him develop that changeup further. Cijntje is an elite pitcher against right handed batters holding them to a .166 average and a .480 OPS, though he struggles against lefties giving up a .252 average and a .845 OPS. I believe the Cardinals will drop the left-hand, but if they don't he features a low 90s fastball with a low 80s sweeper that profiles as a fringe bullpen role.
