Thinking about $ETH and the current state of crypto... there's two interesting facts that keep popping into my head... 1) Defi on Bitcoin never took off This really surprises me honestly because I always thought it would (I assumed via EVM or SVM L2's), but it hasn't, not even a little bit. 2) No other L1 has really staged a significant challenge to it either Like seriously... its pretty much just Ethereum now... is it not? Solana has had tremendous success obviously (and I like $SOL and own some), but its all sort of Solana-specific, if that makes sense... And beyond that, no other chain has even come close to matching Ethereum... At one point in 2021 there were other chains that got really popular for a time- first BSC, then Fantom, then Avalanche, etc- but really none of those were able to sustain the momentum. And today, if you want to do anything serious in crypto, you are going to build it on Ethereum (or on something else that is itself built on top of Ethereum). Steve Pack aka Steven Pack | RockSolid- from RockSolid Network- talks about this in the below clip. Its an older video but I was re-watching it and the segment struck me, as it really sums up what I think is the biggest bull case in Ethereum's favor... Which is that for all intents and purposes, Ethereum IS crypto at this point. Bitcoin has fully moved into its "store of value" era, which is awesome and which I support, but the fact is that there is nothing built on top of Bitcoin. And indeed only a tiny minority of $BTC holders actually hold it on chain. And I'm not even saying this is bad- it just is what it is. I actually disagree with those who lament the Bitcoin ETF's and the Saylor accumulation and institutional adoption and etc - I think these developments are a net positive and were always bound to happen. But Bitcoin is definitely not "crypto" at this point (the BTC maxi's were right about that in the end, interestingly). And then yeah, in terms of on-chain stuff, Solana has had a lot of success with memecoins and the sort of degen trencher world (and for a time I thought they were going to see breakout success via livestreaming on PumpFun, but then it pretty much died out)... But for any serious "crypto" stuff its going to be Ethereum. So yeah... if, like me, you are still bullish $ETH for the above reasons (or just a masochist, depending on how you want to look at it), and if you want to earn yield on it and support its decentralization, then I highly recommend RockSolid Network. I've been an advisor to them for awhile now- hence will use this partnership tag thing, although these are just my thoughts and me trying to support them in general, not a specific advertisement or something- and I really view them as the best of the best as far as Ethereum and its roll in crypto goes. They are hardcore idealists in every sense, and have tried to do everything right in building the project, abiding by the original OG Etherean ethos and the spirit of decentralization and permissionlessness and etc at every turn (they've also built their vaults without token incentives or points programs or hints of an airdrop or anything else, interestingly)... In this regard, right now there are three RockSolid vaults... a) the Rocksolid $rETH Vault b) the RockSolid AutoPlus Looped $ETH Vault, and c) the new RockSolid MegaETH USDm Vault (will link to this one below!) Highly recommend checking them out! And also highly recommend following the RockSolid Network account, as well as co-founders Ben Ward and Steven Pack | RockSolid 💪 And yeah... I really do believe that crypto will get its time in the sun... and that eventually all these assets will get the valuations they deserve... And at that point there's honestly nothing in crypto that I think should be valued as high as $ETH 🫡

Is easy to get discouraged after defi exploits HOWEVER its worth noting that they pale in comparison to the private credit crisis in tradfi-land... I've been wanting to highlight my good bro Martin de Rijke's recent appearance on The Rollup and he actually touched on this exact topic in it... Martin is Head Of Growth at Maple, and he spoke with Andy and Robbie Klages all about everything Maple is doing 💪 As he explains in the interview, Martin's been involved with crypto since 2015 and has been a part of the Maple team since 2022, so he has been instrumental in the project's massive success, and had a ton of interesting stuff to say regarding both Maple and defi as a whole... Below clip is- again- on the private credit crisis in macro and whether it can be an opportunity for defi and for Maple, and then it also touches on Maple's overall business model and some other interesting stuff toward the end. As noted above, the private credit crisis is far larger in scope than these defi exploits, and it is also quite representative of the problems in tradfi that defi solves - the fact that it is opaque and corrupt and is based on giant webs of counterparties where there is no way to confirm where your money is and no blockchain to check... In this regard it is an apt reminder of the inherent superiority of blockchain-based financial rails, and the value in what we are all doing here... But yeah, as always, I own a ton of $SYRUP and work with the Maple team, so will flip the 'partner' tag on this 💪 And then will also include a couple more interesting clips from the interview below, and link to the full discussion :) Massive respect to Martin for the great interview!!! 💪🥞 He's been a wonderful friend of mine for as long as I've known him and I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend giving him a follow on here if you aren't already doing so! :)

"Stablecoins... are at about $300B circulating supply... and we think that's going to go to trillions over the next few years..." - Sid Powell 🥞 from Maple This is from a great interview Sid did last week that sort of went under the radar, as the interviewers don't have a presence on here as far as I can tell. It is from 'Global Money Talk' from 3PROTV, and had all sorts of bangers in it, so wanted to highlight a couple in a brief thread :) Will also link to full video below! Disclaimer: I own tons of $SYRUP and work with the team so am using the new Nikita tag on this just to be safe! :)

Maple Finance co-founder Sid Powell 🥞: "We're in a market regime where everyone is very depressed about the prices of assets... There's a lot of pessimism... But the actual underlying traction is very good... the level of adoption is actually growing much faster than people appreciate... Right now, capital formation- and prices- is actually well below adoption, but I think prices will catch up again." This is from an absolutely fantastic interview that Sid recently did with Stefano Sanabria from Alea Research that sort of slipped under the radar a bit, but was particularly noteworthy imho... There's a bunch of excellent segments in it but the one embedded below is on this current disconnect that we are all witnessing in crypto... Obviously we are deep in the recesses of goblintown right now and I think Sid is 100% right that this price action does not match the fundamentals... And I think this is more true in defi than in any other area of crypto. You have a whole bunch of blue-chip defi protocols that are utterly revolutionizing the financial landscape and who are building with a decades-long vision in mind and really legitimately moving the ball down the field in terms of blockchain's subsuming of tradfi rails. Stuff like Aave, Pendle, Hyperliquid, Maple itself, and a bunch of others... The pathological bear'ism affecting markets right now is 100% misaligned with the above reality, and I think this discorrelation will violently correct sometime this year (most likely once rates get dropped following Warsh replacing Powell in May). So yeah, absolutely fantastic interview and I wanted to clip a few of the highlights and encourage you to watch the whole thing, so will do so below and then provide the link to the full version of it 💪

Clip below is from a presentation called 'The Road To 80k $ETH: Tradfi, Treasuries, And Trump'... from Mantle's Tim Chen- Timothée - that I highly recommend watching if $ETH price appreciation is a subject that interests you :) Is also very interesting re: Mantle... which remains one of the more fascinating projects in crypto right now... It was originally an L2, but they have basically evolved far beyond that and are now sort of becoming this giant crypto giga-entity building a variety of solutions vis a vis the global economy's evolution into a blockchain-based system... Most well-known examples are all their 'Blockchain For Banking' stuff and their new UR Neobank app but there's a bunch of others as well... Actually reminds me of Coinbase where it started as just a cex but has now basically evolved way beyond that where its sort of this blockchain-industrial behemoth now that is building out the rails and interfaces and etc of the new global financial system in a bunch of different ways... But yeah, re: Mantle and Tim Chen in the video below, one of the areas they are focused on (interestingly) is the Treasury Company space and its intersection with $ETH... Below video was recorded at Cannes/EthCC back before $ETH went on its current run and it basically outlined exactly what was going to happen with the Treasury Company meta colliding with $ETH and the absolute tear its been on the last few weeks... I think Tim is 100% correct that we are still at the very very beginning of this new bull market and there are going to be some absolutely massive W's stacked up at this intersection of variables that the video talks about... And then re: $80K $ETH.... that obviously sounds like a meme at first... HOWEVER... that's like an $8T market cap and as an inveterate permabulltard I can make the case for it :) ...as it is literally only 1/3 of gold's (current) market cap and will likely still be smaller than $MSFT and $AAPL when/if it happens... as they will likely have doubled or tripled in the next 5 years as well and very likely both be over $10T by that point... so honestly when you take the speed of the ongoing debasement into account I don't think the idea of $ETH hitting an $8T market cap someday is that crazy to be perfectly honest :) But yeah, highly recommend watching it in full - will include link to full version in next tweet!

Great video featuring a bunch of gigabrain friends of mine from ETHDenver... I find it impossible to visualize a world someday where all these guys and the tens of thousands of ones like them are all 55 years old and crypto HASN'T become the dominant global financial rails... Like how can anyone not be uber-bullish on the industry? It literally has a 100% monopoly on smart, talented young people vs tradfi. Does anyone really think they are all going to wake up one day and be like "Oh... yep... this was all a big mistake... better go back to SWIFT and Wells Fargo and forget about all this silly crypto business..." Insane to me that anyone doesn't see where things are headed. Anyway, make sure to follow them on here! 0 to 1 Stephen | DeFi Dojo Weso Cap'n Jack Bearow Felipe Montealegre (IFS) Anders bryancolligan And video c/o DeFi Basecamp :)
