ICE admitted this today during my oversight visit to 26 Federal Plaza: 60% of the people they arrest have no criminal history. The Trump administration’s dragnet is targeting people who are not criminals but are trying to follow the law. We’re watching, and we’re coming back.

This morning, ICE denied me entry into their detention facility at 26 Federal Plaza for my weekly, unannounced oversight visit, citing @Sec_Noem’s "new" policy requiring 7 days’ notice. A court has already ruled that members have a statutory right to conduct oversight, but now DHS has concocted a bogus reason to keep us out. We know oversight is effective and have seen that it improves detention conditions. If this administration is so transparent, what are they afraid of and what are trying to hide?

As a member of Congress, I can't accept a gift over $50. But if you’re a Supreme Court justice, you can accept lavish vacations from people with cases to be decided by you with no repercussions. Our highest court shouldn’t be held to the lowest ethical standards.

Republicans have apparently had “dozens” of secret meetings with whistleblowers yet provided no notes or interview transcripts from those meetings to Democrats. If there are notes, let us see them. If there are no notes, how can you write a “report” based on those interviews?

Last week, ICE detained 4 US citizens during a military-style raid on Canal St. After my office intervened, they were released without charges. I’m demanding a full accounting of this abuse and will work to ensure all New Yorkers are protected from Trump's masked ICE agents.

Over the last year, federal judges have ruled on more than 16,000 immigrant habeas cases that determine the legality of their imprisonment. An astounding 88% of their rulings went AGAINST the Trump administration. In other words, 14,000 people have been wrongly and unlawfully imprisoned in just 12 months. If 88% of these detentions are ruled unlawful — by judges appointed by every president, including Trump — shouldn’t the response be to change the policy? The message is clear: Stop illegally imprisoning immigrants who have not committed crimes.

No federal badge authorizes the unlawful arrest of or use of excessive force on American citizens. When ICE crosses that line, they’re committing crimes under state law. Local law enforcement has a duty to intervene and protect the public, not rogue agents.
