The treatment of detainees inside Delaney Hall is appalling. Lack of medical care. Insufficient and sometimes infested food. Overflowing sewage, overcrowding, no outdoor time, and blatant retaliation. Nearly all of them have no criminal record and many are in this country lawfully, yet they are being held in conditions worse than criminal jail. This is just un-American. They must be released now.

This morning, ICE denied me entry into their detention facility at 26 Federal Plaza for my weekly, unannounced oversight visit, citing @Sec_Noem’s "new" policy requiring 7 days’ notice. A court has already ruled that members have a statutory right to conduct oversight, but now DHS has concocted a bogus reason to keep us out. We know oversight is effective and have seen that it improves detention conditions. If this administration is so transparent, what are they afraid of and what are trying to hide?

I’m not sure who deserves more disdain and disgust: Trump and the FCC for their blatant violation of the Constitution or Disney and Nexstar for sacrificing their values and folding to a wannabe Mob Boss and his authoritarian goons. It was Jimmy Kimmel tonight, but dare to criticize the president and it could be you tomorrow.

Today Secretary Markwayne Mullin yet again tried to defend ICE’s lawless deportation dragnet by asserting that they are going after the “worst of the worst.” Nobody is fooled by this flat-out lie. In fact, ICE has been violating their own policy for a year by arresting people at immigration court. But Secretary Mullin didn’t even know that. DHS does not get to make up their own laws and it’s time Sec. Mullin learns what they are and follows them.
