Happy 58th Birthday to me, Reverend Jide Macaulay! 🎉🌈 Happy Holy Homosexual Today, as I reflect on the 58 years of my life's journey, I'm filled with gratitude to God, the almighty for the experiences, challenges, and triumphs that have shaped me into the person I am today. I am a black African priest, British Nigerian, openly homosexual, and living with HIV, and I wear these aspects of my identity as badges of honour. Throughout my life, I've been on a mission to fight for justice and equality, particularly for LGBTQ+ individuals and people living with HIV. I've faced countless hurdles and obstacles, but my commitment to this cause has only grown stronger. It's a path that isn't always easy, but it's one I walk with pride and determination. The House of Rainbow, which I founded, stands as a testament to my unwavering dedication to creating safe and welcoming spaces for those who have been persecuted and marginalised. It brings me immense joy to see how this space has become a symbol of love, acceptance, and support for so many. As I mark my 58th year, I understand that there is much work still to be done. But I also carry with me the knowledge that I have been able to make a difference, to touch lives, and to inspire change. I've witnessed the power of love, acceptance, and community, and it's a force that can transform the world. So, to all those who have shown compassion, who have stood by me during difficult situations, and who have cared for my wellness, please accept my sincerest thanks. Your contributions, both seen and unseen, have made an indelible mark on my life and on the lives of many others. Together, we can and will build a world that is more inclusive, more compassionate, and more accepting.
