My modest 16–30 ft buffer bill was deemed totally infeasible in corn-and-soy-ruled Illinois. Instead, here’s the Kaskaskia River, with crops planted to the edge of eroding banks. BTW, ag now wants to claim streambank erosion is a non-ag source of phosphorus pollution. Please.

If Illinois was "the most important place in the world," we would not leave 20 million acres of it bare and exposed for half the year to let our precious topsoil—created by the unnecessary prairie we plowed under—to blow away and wash into the river.
