Our cameras captured the Ship Thrust Simulator stand making its way back to the production site from Massey's in the early hours of October 4th. What does this mean? A ship could be heading out for cryogenic proof testing soon! Ships 42 (Flight 15) and 43 (Flight 16) are currently in Megabay 2, alongside Ship 44, which is in the stacking process. S42 completed its testing a few weeks ago, but S43 isn't quite ready yet, as it still lacks its aft flaps, which all previous Block 3 ships have had for cryo-testing. Recently, Avid Space noticed engines being moved out of MB2, following some that were brought inside earlier, likely for S42. With S42 likely engine-less, SpaceX may send it back to Massey's for another round of cryo-tests. It's unclear if this relates to S41's engine issue during ascent on Flight 14 or if they've identified something concerning with S42 itself. At this point, it's hard to say for sure. Flight 15 is currently aiming for an October 19th launch, according to the FAA CADENA slide. If they want to stick to that timeline, it would be unfortunate to face setbacks in vehicle readiness. We'll keep an eye on S42 and the thrust simulator stand in the coming days.
