This morning, I rushed to the site of the major fire accident in Porur, where a massive blaze had broken out at a wooden warehouse. Nearly 11 lorry loads of water were deployed to bring the fire under control. Ensured swift and coordinated action by the Fire and Rescue Services, Metro Water, Police Department, and other concerned agencies, which helped prevent any injuries and stopped the fire from spreading to nearby residential and commercial areas. Subsequently, I convened a review meeting with Electricity Board officials to ascertain the possible source and cause of the incident. Instructions have also been issued to GCC and TNEB officials to formulate and implement a proper safety measures for fire-prone establishments like temporary structures and warehouses, in order to strengthen safety measures and prevent such incidents in the future.
