Trial stages have unique rules that are much different from a standard Risk of Rain 2 environment. They feature short and sharp encounters with a singular goal. Those who succeed will be handsomely rewarded; those who fail will be claimed by N'Kuhana's fanatic followers.

Hallowed Concepts brings two new item tiers to Risk of Rain 2, Hexes and Hallowed Items. Hexes: these bring suffering to your run with no upside. Hallowed Items: mythical items that grant legendary power. You need to first grab the former to transmute them into the latter; how this is done will be revealed at a later date.

Hex of Strife is a new item coming to Risk of Rain 2 in Hallowed Concepts. This nasty curse gives you the effects of a Shrine of the Mountain with none of the upside. Thankfully, as with all Hexes, you will be able to shed this jinx in favor of a powerful Hallowed Item later.

Who turned the lights off? Hex of Blindness is a new item coming to Risk of Rain 2 in Hallowed Concepts. It limits your vision to just 96 meters, shrouding the rest of the stage in utter darkness. You'll have to wait and see which Hallowed Item it transmutes into.
