I spent eight more hours with my family than I intended this week. That sounds like a good thing, and it was. But it wasn’t my intention. My Time Alignment Score revealed the gap between the Real Me I created and the Ideal Me I intended to create. Learn more about Existence:

One of the highest-energy Time Blocks I’ve ever had: 9.3. For the first time, we opened Existence to a cohort of paid users. Seeing people finally using it was truly such a thrilling experience. I also finished the outline for my philosophy that will eventually become a book and rounded out the week with family and fun in Mexico. The Real Me was closely aligned with the Ideal Me. I’m a recovering delusional optimist. I used to believe every idea I had was going to work. When someone told me otherwise, I assumed they were just being negative. But being unrealistically positive creates the same disappointment as being unrealistically negative because neither is calibrated to reality. The goal isn’t to become more positive or more negative. It’s to continuously calibrate your expectations to reality.

In 2015 I built a spreadsheet that would change my perspective on time forever. I realized time had a clear structure and everything unfolded in this structure. This Rhythm of Existence capacity planner is the genesis of what would become 10 years later.

On April 23, 2015, I hired the entire cast of Aladdin and 300 extras to propose to my wife. She said yes. They fired off the confetti and played “A Whole New World.” It was truly the beginning of the rest of my life. Learn more about Existence:

In 2020 I decided to start tracking all of my time. That first week showed me time was not nearly as complex as I thought. I was only doing 15 or 20 things a day and each day was different while my weeks were similar. There was a clear structure to time. This is when I realized being accountable to all time was being accountable to my real self. So when I created Existence, I needed to make being accountable to time effortless and easy. My goal last week was to write 20 hours of my book, Time Creationism. I ended up pushing all of that writing to the second half of the week and still accomplished the goal. My Time Alignment Score showed me exactly how my week unfolded. Learn more about Existence:

An investor once gave me a piece of advice that I completely ignored. "Capital loves clarity." I thought he didn't get it. Years later, I realized I was the one who didn't. The advice never changed. My level of knowledge did.

I raced ostriches with my cousins and got stomped in the ribs. More than a decade later, the whole memory lives inside Existence for me to reflect on and remember forever. Still think I got cheated. Learn more about Existence:

Your life is already operating as a system, whether you intentionally designed it or not. Every habit, decision, environment, and relationship is continuously shaping the person you are. Improve the system, and you improve you.

Your energy is information. High energy shows you when your life is aligned with the person you're trying to become. Low energy shows you where something needs to change. Use your energy as the compass to create a better you.

I’ll never forget game 7 of the 2016 NBA finals. Being from Ohio, it meant so much to witness LeBron James win the championship after being down 3-1 to arguably the best team ever. The chase-down block was one of the greatest moments I've ever witnessed, and today it's forever captured inside Existence. I can’t wait to see him win another championship in Philly.

Sometimes motivation isn't enough. When you don't integrate a goal into your natural rhythm, you rely on motivation. Motivation rises and falls. Momentum is what helps you actualize your goals.

You can do exactly what you intended to do and still have a terrible experience. That's why every Time Block in Existence includes an Energy Rating. It's not a productivity score. It's a qualitative assessment of your lived experience. Because ultimately, energy is your compass. Learn more about Existence here:

You only do 15–25 things each day. Each week is remarkably similar. You're really only repeating six or seven things over and over again. Those repeating moments become the rhythm of how you create yourself—and ultimately, who you become.

This is the Existence Grid. It was inspired by the idea of seeing your entire life laid out in weeks. How much you have created and how much you still have to create. The grid is designed to show your life in years, months, weeks, and days. Not just as time passing, but as time created. For me, that is 51 years, 618 months, 2,686 weeks, and 18,802 days. It all began with one time block. June 28th, 1974 at 6:50am. The first block of my existence. This grid becomes the record of what you have created. The true story of you.
