🫶 What you don’t see on TV: the grupetto 🤝 When a team car from, for example, Lidl-Trek, or the neutral service car isn’t nearby, teams sometimes help each other out. (Yes, even if it’s one of your biggest sprint rivals… 😉) Especially on hot days like yesterday, when staying cool is crucial, every team does what it can. 🥤🧊 We’re competitors, but above all, we want a fair fight and for everyone to make it to the finish in good health. Today, a new sprint battle awaits. 🫡

📞 Last chance, Red Bull Bike: contact him! When you host a Partner Event at Vittoria Park, you have to hit the slopes. Not sure if the Rose Hobo bike was built for this… and honestly, not sure if Bas Tietema was either. 😅 (This stunt was performed by a former pro cyclist. No Bas Tietema was harmed.)

I’ll be in my Sprint Control Room! 🙋♂️ We decided a while ago that I would leave the Giro d’Italia on the second rest day. 🚂 The sprint train is on the rails. The guys know what to do and I can still do my preparation work from home as Sprint Coach. The sporting side is in very good hands with the DS staff still in Italy, so I’m confident the guys will keep building on what we started together. I’m happy to be back with my family. 💖 Still… it’s itching a little already, because I left my other family members behind in Italy. Together with all the Rocketeers, we’ve been working on our Mission Giro. We’ve been so close. 😤 Will that sprint win come? 🚀 Today might be another chance, and after that, more sprint opportunities are expected in Milan and Rome. I’ll be cheering from home, and I’ll be shouting so loud they’ll be able to hear me all the way in Italy. 😉 - Marcel Kittel
