even in this scene, january perfectly conveys how checked out, tired and childish betty is from her facial expressions to her tone of voice. hamm is celebrated for his acting in this show and january is able to match his performance but sure she’s bad actress.

don saying betty is so happy but from the beginning of the series we see how sad she is. he destroyed her and then he resented the person he made her.

betty is a cold, isolated woman trapped in the role of a 1950s housewife. january jones perfectly captured the sadness and emptiness the character required. any lack of emotion you see on screen is completely purposeful.
