In 42 games as a starter last season, Amen Thompson averaged 16 PPG/9 RPG/5 APG/1.7 SPG and 1.6 BPG on 60% TS. And he did this in an off-ball role. All signs suggest the Rockets are better when he’s off ball. They should put him back in that role and start Reed Sheppard at PG.

In the end-of-season availability interviews, Udoka was asked about Cam Whitmore’s role and said he’s been “very clear” with “what’s gonna get you on the court and help you sustain a role” and said they’re looking for “consistency” with him. Consistency happens both on AND off the court. I don’t wanna see Cam Whitmore go because he can contribute to this team, but if he’s having trouble accepting his role then that’s his issue.

Here’s the case for Alperen Sengun getting the all-star nod over Sabonis: 1. He’s a top player for one of the best teams in the Western Conference 2. He plays both ways and is having the best defensive season of his career And @KevinOConnorNBA agrees. Sorry, Kings fans.

Full Rockets Season Preview: 1. The Jurassic Rockets™️ will look to tower over opponents, dominate the glass and win with physicality 2. Replacing 3 of 5 starters from the last two seasons is never an easy thing to do 3. Houston’s offense has a much higher ceiling than before

The Rockets will win 48 games for these three reasons: 1. A top-10 defense returns everyone, gets Tari Eason back after missing 60 games last season, and adds size/depth with Steven Adams 2. Everyone gets a year older and more mentally and physically mature. Also, another year of continuity in Ime Udoka’s system should allow for new wrinkles and more flexibility 3. Sengun and Jalen Green break out and lead the way alongside an excellent cast of veteran role players (Fred VanVleet, Steven Adams, Dillon Brooks)
