After winning the election, Suvendu Adhikari stated in his first speech that people from all religions in Kolkata voted for him except the Muslim community. I genuinely do not understand how he could be so certain about that. Does the Election Commission of India have any system that identifies which religious community voted for a particular candidate? If not, then on what basis was such a statement made? Comments like these are deeply alarming because they openly divide citizens along religious lines and risk creating further communal tension. Political leaders should work to unite people, not single out an entire community after an election. I believe such rhetoric is dangerous for the social harmony and democratic fabric of India. Our position is clear. India has given shelter to leaders and activists of organizations banned in Bangladesh, including the Hasina network. From there, these killers are orchestrating attacks on our children and repeatedly fleeing back across the border. We still want to hope that India will cooperate by handing over these criminals and returning Awami League leaders and activists to Bangladesh. Friendship between India and Bangladesh must be based on equality, not domination.

However, the current situation appears to have surpassed previous levels of abuse. Reports of mosque vandalism have surfaced, and more disturbingly, a viral video shows extremist Hindutva groups desecrating Muslim graveyards and setting them on fire. When even the dead members of a minority community are not safe, it raises serious concerns about the safety and security of the living. I urge the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take notice of this situation. Around 30,000 terrorists belonging to banned organizations in Bangladesh have illegally crossed the border and taken shelter in India, most of whom do not possess valid legal documents.
