Is Matteo Mancuso the best modern guitarist right now? No pick. Just pure fingerstyle — speed, precision, phrasing, and real musicality all at once. This performance of “The Price Of Love” is a masterclass in control and feel. A lot of people are calling him generational… and after watching this, it’s easy to see why. What’s your verdict? 👇

Most people don’t pay attention to the bass player… until someone like Larry Williams steps up. This solo is pure fire. He’s playing a right-handed bass left-handed, slapping the hell out of it, and still locking in with the band like it’s nothing. No wasted notes, just groove, power, and feel. Bass doesn’t have to sit in the background. When it’s done right, it can take over the whole room. Anyone else think the best bass players are still underrated?

April 1, 1989. Living Colour walks onto SNL and doesn’t just play — they take over. Vernon Reid’s guitar is pure controlled chaos. Funky, aggressive, and sharp as a blade. “Cult of Personality” already hit hard on record, but this live version feels like the band is trying to burn the studio down in the best way possible. Most bands get polite applause on late-night TV. Living Colour got a reaction that felt closer to a mosh pit. Still one of the most electric SNL performances of that entire era. Anyone else think this moment doesn’t get talked about enough?

Still can’t believe the most iconic moment in The Bangles’ “Walk Like an Egyptian” was pure nerves 😂 Susanna Hoffs wasn’t doing a planned eye flick — she was just nervously glancing between two people in the crowd for comfort… and it became legendary. Now at 66 she’s still doing the move and the crowd loses it every time. Absolute 80s queen energy.

Eddie Van Halen. Tokyo Dome. Sitting down. Most guitarists stand up to look dangerous. Eddie crossed his legs and turned "Eruption" into a parlor trick. Tapping. Whammy. That brown sound. Zero rush. Like the building belonged to him and the song was just something he kept in the other room. That's the difference. Talent stands. Genius sits.

Char. If you only know American blues-rock, this might surprise you. Japan’s guitar legend taking that Hendrix and SRV fire and making it his own. The tone is thick. The bends hurt in the right way. Nothing wasted. A lot of players copy the notes. Char copied the feel, then kept going. One of those guys who should be a household name outside Japan… and somehow still isn’t. Who else belongs on that list?

Three girls from a conservative village in Garut, Indonesia. In 2014 they were 14. They found System of a Down on a school computer. A teacher said start a band. They did. Then the village answered. Stones. Death threats. Smashed windows. Cars trying to run them down. Power cut mid-gig. “Devil’s music.” Haram. All because three hijab-wearing kids dared to play metal. They named the band Voice of Baceprot. It means “noisy.” This is them in France covering “Enter Sandman.” Leather jackets. Headscarves. Barefoot on the drums. No click track. No extra help. Just a trio that learned how to survive first, and play second. Most covers try to honor Metallica. This one feels like they earned the right to touch the song. From hated noise in a small village… to a stage in Rennes, then Glastonbury, then the world. That’s not a gimmick. That’s defiance with a riff.

In one of the coolest moments in rock history, Eddie Van Halen stood inside the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History and broke down exactly how he invented his legendary finger-tapping technique. He explained how he stumbled on the idea as a kid — inspired by piano and classical techniques — and later saw Jimmy Page playing with one hand and turned it into the explosive sound that changed guitar forever. Then he plugged in and unleashed “Eruption” live, right there in the museum. Watching Eddie demonstrate the birth of modern tapping in such a historic setting? Pure magic. That two-handed technique went from his bedroom to stadiums worldwide and influenced an entire generation of players. Eddie didn’t just play guitar — he rewrote the rules. One of the greatest innovators rock has ever seen. Rest in power, EVH.

🔥 First time ever — Sammy Hagar meets Eddie Van Halen on stage! Farm Aid 1985. Sammy steps in, Eddie lights up his guitar, and they absolutely crush Led Zeppelin’s “Rock And Roll” together. Raw energy, killer tone, and the exact moment the Van Hagar era was born 🤘 History in real time.

Colorized Chuck Berry at full power. Watch the duck walk, the grin, and that guitar like he’s inventing the language in real time. Because in a lot of ways, he was. The Beatles stole from him. Hendrix studied him. Half of rock guitar still lives in those licks. Some people play rock and roll. Chuck Berry was rock and roll.

Happy Birthday to a true national treasure — Steve Martin. Comedian. Actor. Writer. And one of the most unexpected (and serious) banjo players of our time. He’s won Grammys for comedy and for bluegrass. He released a full banjo album that took home Best Bluegrass Album. He played on Earl Scruggs’ “Foggy Mountain Breakdown.” He created the Steve Martin Banjo Prize to support the instrument he loves. And he still plays with real heart and skill. Most people only know the wild and crazy guy. The ones who listen closer know the musician. Happy Birthday, Steve. Thanks for keeping the banjo alive and interesting. Steve Martin

Scott Weiland’s last interview took place on December 1, 2015 — just two days before he was found dead on his tour bus in Bloomington, Minnesota, at the age of 48. In the interview, the former frontman of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver sat backstage in Toronto and reflected on music, life, and his journey. Even in those final days, his charisma and raw honesty were still there. Weiland’s voice defined a generation of rock. His talent and struggles left a complicated but unforgettable legacy. RIP Scott. Your music still hits hard.

Phenomenal bass cover of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” 🔥 This guy absolutely shreds it on the bass — tight grooves, insane technique, and that perfect “Smooth Criminal” swagger. It’s one of those covers that makes you stop and watch in awe. Bass players don’t get enough love for carrying songs like this. Pure talent.

Pearl Jam’s “Yellow Ledbetter” has one of the most mysterious origins in their catalog. The title comes from a real friend of Eddie Vedder’s named Tim Ledbetter. The song was written around the time of the first Gulf War and tells the story of a guy who receives a “yellow letter” (a telegram) saying his brother has been killed overseas. Eddie has explained that it’s about grief, confusion, and the harsh judgment the character faces from people in his suburban neighborhood while he’s trying to process the news. The lyrics are famously mumbled on purpose — even Eddie has said the words were never fully fixed. It’s one of those rare songs that feels deeply personal but leaves just enough room for everyone to bring their own meaning to it.
