Several presentations were made at the Kyankwanzi retreat but time was scarce and new members needed to be allowed time to express themselves. Nonetheless, I could not fail to chip in with comments especially on PDM and unemployment. I encouraged all stakeholders to not use recovery as a measure of performance because this creates tension and worry but also neglects other economic benefits that come from having such a program like PDM. I believe in President Yoweri K Museveni's approach of bringing people into the money economy. For some people 1m is the biggest they have held, whereas some invested some didn't. However the benefits of the program outweigh the recovery, for example; 1. It's a tester program for if Uganda ever created a welfare fund for all citizens. We would already have a strategy for effective implementation. 2. The PDM got members at the Parish level talking and discussing economics. I think all leaders should augment the efforts and guide communities on very profitable and suitable ventures. 3. We can easily get planning and budgeting responsive to as low a Parish, if the program also focuses on feedback loop. I thank you!

We continue to advocate for the economic well-being of special interest groups (youths, women & PWDs). I asked Parliament of Uganda to compel Ministry of Finance to expedite the process of enforcing regulations that give these groups competitive advantage in public procurement for their own dev’t

While I acknowledge the concerns of my colleagues on the minority side, we must move beyond subjective critiques and look at the facts. Infrastructure dev't is the true catalyst for economic transformation. From the new roads in Kampala and the outskirts like Kira to the expansion of housing units, these projects only happen when we enable the government to finance the budget. A Shs 200/- increase on fuel is a modest step toward ensuring we don't just stay a "low-income country" but actively build the 6,000+ km of roads and energy infrastructure needed to drive our informal sector and the Boda-Boda industry forward. We’ve already passed laws to cushion consumers, and now we must remain firm in our commitment to building a better Uganda for the next generation. I thank you.
