The UK’s support for Ukraine deserves much more scrutiny and, ultimately, a clear mandate from the British public. Billions of pounds of taxpayers’ money are being committed while people here are struggling with the cost of living, public services are under pressure, and government finances are already stretched. This isn’t about being anti-Ukraine or ignoring the suffering caused by war. It’s about democratic accountability: when billions of pounds of taxpayers’ money and potentially years of military commitments are involved, shouldn’t the British people have a meaningful say?
