3D Printed 1:50 Starship Pad A Orbital Launch Mount In honor of the last Starship launch from Pad A in a few days, here is a video teaser of my work-in-progress 3D printed Starbase Pad A OLM. This design features 21 servos to control the main functions of the mount and customizable software, providing some unique opportunities. Sound on to hear it in action!

#SpaceX is continuing to assemble the new launch mount for #Starbase Pad B. This mount is nearly a clean-sheet design for the next-generation #SuperHeavy booster, keeping only the same number of support arms at 20, despite the arms being a complete redesign as well. As of now, it appears that roughly 5 out of 20 support arms have been installed, with more arriving on trailers every few days. In addition to installing the support arms, crews are also welding an additional water supply manifold onto one side of the water-cooled steel deck.

#SpaceX is preparing to move the massive new #Starship launch mount structure for #Starbase Pad B to the launch site for installation. In this post, I’ll give an overview of the design and use my 3D models to calculate the structure’s mass in its current configuration. This new launch mount, nearly an entire redesign, is SpaceX’s best effort at correcting many of the issues discovered with the mount at Pad A after a handful of launches. The only similarity between this mount and the original launch mount for Pad A is that 20 arms will still be used to support the #SuperHeavy booster before liftoff. However, the arms and everything else making up the structure are entirely different.

Thursday, March 14th, 2024 #S28 and #B10 took to the skies for #Starship Flight 3. Building on the success of Flight 2, B10 completed its boostback burn making it the first #SuperHeavy booster to make a touchdown in the Gulf of Mexico. S28 completed its insertion burn making it the first Starship to reach the reentry portion of flight providing massive amounts of data for #SpaceX engineers. Both B10 and S28 provided amazing views and reached new milestones making Flight 3 the most successful orbital test of Starship to date. Congratulations SpaceX! We look forward to Flight 4, which could be right around the corner!

Before liftoff, the next generation #SpaceX #SuperHeavy booster will sit atop 20 of these redesigned support arms for the #Starbase Pad B Launch Mount. Using my highly accurate 3D model of the pre-fabricated assembly, I can calculate that a single arm weighs ~9.7 tons. This will likely eclipse 10 tons once the arms are outfitted with additional hardware like clamps, linkages, and actuators.

Before liftoff, the next generation #SpaceX #SuperHeavy booster will sit atop 20 of these redesigned support arms for the #Starbase Pad B Launch Mount. As a 3D artist, I take pride in producing high-quality content that helps explain launch hardware, teach concepts, and inspire with cinematic animations. When I started making renders a few years ago, I never thought that it would lead to producing content that millions of people would see. Thanks to the support of the Starship community, I've had the chance to participate in a handful of exciting opportunities this past year. I'm grateful that my content has had a positive impact within the community and I look forward to producing more content in 2025!
