The ETH thesis for Thomas (Tom) Lee (not drummer) FundstratDirect.com is simple. He's frontrunning ETH accumulation by the banks. "Ethereum is also the architecture that future banks will have. When goldman issues a stablecoin and JPMorgan doing it on Ethereum as Layer 1 blockchain they're going to want to secure it by staking Ethereum so, we're trying to get in front of that by creating an Ethereum treasury vehicle." Why is Tom Lee converting a bitcoin mining company to an ETH treasury and staking company? Simple. The banks will have stablecoins. The stablecoins will deploy on Ethereum. And so...the banks will acquire & stake ETH to secure their stablecoins. First commercial banks buy and stake. Then central banks buy and stake ETH. ETH becomes a world reserve asset. He's frontrunning the obvious ETH accumulation trend - just as he did with bitcoin many years ago. Bullish ETH.

Tom Lee says you can't model the price of ETH on a spreadsheet. "ETH at $3,600 is ridiculously undervalued so maybe that's the most important takeaway - not trying to give someone a spreadsheet" Thomas (Tom) Lee (not drummer) FSInsight.com acquired $3 billion in ETH over the last 30 days and plans to buy at least another $20 billion.

I asked Vladimir Novakovski the founder of Lighter why other platforms are still building for L1s and citing performance reasons? "idk, maybe they made a technical choice 2 years ago that's not relevant today. Those guys should go talk to Succinct." He says there's no performance limitation to L2s - Lighter could run at 1m TPS now if it needed to. "The more secure the L1, the more performant the L2." It seems Lighter is an L2 for one simple reason. A better product for users.

I think the Ethereum Barbell strategy will prove right. This is how Vitalik explains it: "Ethereum's barbell strategy of L1 and L2 is basically that L2s do the thing that require centralization and they get the benefits of centralization which includes the ability to do HFT but at the same time they benefit from L1 providing security and censorship resistance" HFT = high frequency trading. He's saying speeding up slot times to the millisecond enters you into a reduce bandwidth increase latency arms race that leads to centralization of block production and validation - see nasdaq. If we know this is the inevitable destination of hyperfast chains then we can put the "dictator in a box" by incenting them to become L2s on Ethereum Ethereum L1 = store of value + slower defi Ethereum L2s = high velocity + HFT defi Ethereum playing 3D chess.

Ok, but... Didn't we create a permissionless unstoppable computer that makes this possible?

My 100 second elevator pitch on ETH to tradFi. Bitcoin is 1 asset - just bitcoin. Ethereum is all possible assets. Which is bigger? Gold...or all the assets in the world? Bitcoin was designed to secure one asset, just bitcoin. Ethereum is a general purpose platform designed to secure everything else: stablecoins, loans, equities, bonds, derivatives - everything in finance. The word for this is: Tokenization. People like Larry Fink are saying every stock, bond, and asset will be tokenized on a global ledger. And even he's thinking too small - tokenization isn't just the assets of the past it's the assets of the future - AI compute, personal data, social status & celebrity. Everything will be tokenized. Ethereum is a global computing network to tokenize and program any asset. Ethereum adds property rights to the internet. Tokenization can and will happen on other platforms, but Ethereum is positioned the strongest contender to ride the tokenization wave. 100 million people own ETH. 100 thousand developers actively contribute to the code. Already, Ethereum settles more annually than the Visa network…and it’s just getting started. Now let's talk about ETH. The cryptocurrency of Ethereum is called ETH and has investible economics, including an algorithmic buy-back and dividend program that drives billions per year in earnings to ETH holders. This number grows as the network expands. You can build a DCF model on ETH as you word with a stock like Nvidia. And because ETH is extremely secure and decentralized like Bitcoin, more and more people are seeing ETH as a compliment to Bitcoin as a non-sovereign store of value. While bitcoin has greater certainty of supply, Ethereum pays a dividend and is deflationary, with the upside of the entire token economy. Bitcoin is exposure to digital gold. Ethereum is exposure to everything else. I own both. But if I could only pick one, I'd pick the superset. I’d pick ETH.

Someone should step up to debate Nassim Nicholas Taleb on bitcoin. We'd host.
