Losses of expensive equipment for the IDF are becoming routine. In the Shomera area, a Hezbollah FPV drone struck at least the third Iron Dome air defense system launcher in a month. The video was filmed on May 18, but published today. Based on the footage, the drone hit the containers with air defense missiles directly again: if they're not empty, this usually leads to detonation and destruction. Notably, all the launchers struck by Hezbollah were deployed near the Lebanese border. The IDF is trying to protect border settlements this way: with air defense positioned further away, it simply doesn't have time to react to a launch. 🖍Overall, this is another illustration of how, amid the "drone revolution," traditional air defense systems increasingly turn from hunter into prey. Moreover, Hezbollah uses the most ordinary FPV drones without Starlink and auto-guidance modules. ❗️For now, the IDF appears to be at the very beginning of realizing that the realities have changed, and an entire Iron Dome battery can be destroyed by drones for a thousand dollars. In time, this will sink in, and the launchers will acquire protective measures. The question is how many more Israeli air defense systems Hezbollah will be able to strike by then.

Tension spikes in Iraq. Overnight, heavy action focused on the north. US downed another MQ-9 Reaper in Basra. American strikes hit Hashd al-Shaabi in Kirkuk and Al-Qaim (major fire reported).
