I had the privilege of speaking with Sky News’ Yalda Hakim about Afghanistan’s broader challenges and potential paths forward. I also addressed the critical issue of engagement—what it entails and why the world cannot afford to disengage, both for the Afghan nation and for Western domestic interests. Engagement does not mean recognition. Recognition should only come when fundamental issues like women’s rights and inclusivity are meaningfully addressed.
