Six years since Irrfan passed away. Still hard to process. His cinematic legacy needs no introduction. But my favourite has always been his magnificent portrayal of the urdu poet Makhdoom Mohiuddin in the Sardar Jafri’s produced show, Kahkashan.

Irrfan as Lenin in the TV play Laal Ghaas Par Neele Ghode, alongside Sutapa Sikdar (whom he later married in 1995). The play was the Hindi adaptation of Mikhail Shatrov’s Blue Horses on Red Grass. It was staged at the Shri Ram Centre, Mandi House, in the early 1990s.
