🚨 We are not ready in this country! At the Remo Stars Stadium yesterday, I watched the fans of Raja Club Athletic for over 30mins into the game to the point that my guy Engineer Kowope had to tap me and say “are you going to watch the fans all through or focus on the match?” I told him to allow me abeg because I saw a huge level of fandom that had great coordination, teamwork and love for the club and I was amazed. Firstly, they were two factions of Raja fans who came for the game. The green jersey ones came earlier and picked a spot. When the black jersey ones came, they initially went to another spot beside the green ones but with a barrier between them and a huge space on either side. Immediately I said to my self, they can’t make the mistake I see many Nigerian club fans make, they ignore the numbers strength that sitting together can bring. Minutes later, I saw the black fans migrating through the gate to fill the gap beside the green ones and there it began. They started unveiling each other’s tifos one after another with everyone having dedicated roles. Some climes the rafters to hold the tifo at the top to stretch it out, some went below deck, almost missing the entire game as they were responsible for preparing which tifo goes next, setting it in such a way that it passes smoothly up and is retrieved swiftly down and swapped with the next one. Everyone knew the chants and they went on for the entire duration of the game, no stopping. I was in awe and amazed of what coordination can look like if done properly. We will get there! or not.
