What this useful idiot Munyakazi Sadate said is not his personal opinion. It is not so different from what Paul Kagame says about his perceived enemies. If Kagame had said this, he would be applauded by the same sycophants who are accusing Sadate of deviating from the so called FPR-Inkotanyi principles. It is the real ideology of the RPF. The leader, Kagame, has just recently referred to DRC president Tshisekedi an empty drum, simply because he openly asked Kagame himself to work with him to end the violence in eastern #DRCongo. He's called his opponents dogs, ibigarasha, etc. And suddenly you want to make this a Sadate issue. RPF carders and sycophants are always online abusing, threatening people that criticise Kagame’s regime. Now they're trying to isolate one bad apple - Sadate - to santize the party that rewards people who defend the party by insulting and abusing any opposing views. Here we go.

My father is gone. I couldn’t return home to bury him. Exile keeps me away. Papa, thank you for your strength, resilience, and the sacrifices you made for us. I never imagined saying goodbye like this. You live on in what I do and who I am. Go find Mama Muteteri and rest together in peace, Byansi Senior.

Kagame’s regime may resort to killing, kidnapping, and arbitrary arrests, but it must recognize that freedom of speech is a fundamental human right. No level of repression will ever succeed in silencing an entire nation. TWO journalists from the same Rwandan YouTube channel “Imbarutso ya Demokarasi” have disappeared within 72 hours of each other. Both covered stories Paul Kagame’s regime does not want told. This is not coincidence. On May 1, 2026, Augustin Nsanzimana, cameraman & editor for the channel, sent a final message to contacts: Rwanda Investigation Bureau agents had entered his home in City of Kigali. He has not been heard from since. Niyonshuti Emmanuel, the journalist and presenter behind the channel, was threatened after the outlet published a story in which sources alleged multiple deaths of inmates inside the Gikondo Transit Centre (Kwa Kabuga), the facility Human Rights Watch has documented for years of arbitrary detention and abuse. Yesterday he stopped responding. Calls go unanswered. I am treating this as a second enforced disappearance from the same outlet, in the same week. Imbarutso ya Demokarasi was one of the few Kinyarwanda-language platforms covering public service failures and providing space for opposition voices, including Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza, currently in detention. The outlet is now effectively silenced. This is not new. Rwandan poet and YouTube creator Innocent Bahati disappeared on February 7, 2021, after publishing critical work. He has never been found. Rwanda has a documented graveyard of disappeared journalists and creators. Augustin and Niyonshuti are the latest entries, if nothing is done on time. Enforced disappearance is a crime under international law. Rwanda is a state party to the ICCPR. Rwanda Investigation Bureau & Rwanda National Police must immediately disclose the whereabouts of both men, guarantee their physical safety, and grant access to their families and legal counsel. Accountability cannot wait. Cc: CPJ Africa RSF, Forbidden Stories PEN International, Amnesty Eastern Africa Media Defence

Rwandans are put in position to applaud a man who has built his power on fear. Today, #Kagame told citizens to "tighten their belts," acknowledging the economic hardship they face. But no one can ask why the same man - who lives in unchecked luxury, funds his lifestyle with taxpayer money, and flies in private jets owned by Crystal Ventures (his regime’s business empire) - feels entitled to lecture them on sacrifice. While ordinary Rwandans struggle with rising costs and declining opportunities, Kagame continues to channel state resources into military operations, foreign lobbying, and ventures that benefit his inner circle. His government’s budget prioritizes regime security over citizens’ well-being, yet the people are expected to remain silent, applaud, and pretend they don’t see the contradictions. When an entire country is too afraid to question its leader, even the announcement of worsening poverty becomes an occasion for applause. #KwegeraAbaturage

I spoke with ARD, Germany’s joint organisation of regional public-service broadcasters, about how Paul #Kagame’s regime is using the #UCIWorldChampionship2025 to polish its image. Behind this showcase, Kagame’s regime continues to repress its citizens, silence independent voices & destabilize the region - particularly through its aggression in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where war crimes and crimes against humanity have been documented. Sports are being instrumentalized for image laundering, and the UCI plays a role in enabling this façade. I was honored to bring this message to #ARD’s audience of nearly 38 million television households across #Germany. Speaking out remains our strongest tool to demand and defend our rights.

Paul Kagame is a LIAR and a MURDERER. He has mastered the art of self-victimization while cleverly sidestepping peace agreements to keep conflicts going. At one point or another, he has gone after all of his neighboring countries (Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi & DR Congo). I genuinely pity those who still fall for this narrative. Tibor Nagy, unfortunately, seems to be one of them. Whether he’s a paid cheerleader for Kagame or simply taking him at his word, it’s hard to tell, but either way, it shows. Even someone with no background on this issue could ask a simple question: if you signed an agreement to lift those so-called “defensive measures,” then why haven’t you done it, why did you sign it in the first place?

Ordinary Rwandans are now being forced to repaint their roofs so that drone cameras covering the UCI - #UCIWorldChampionship2025 can capture “clean” images. Those who fail risk losing their homes or having their property sealed off by Government of Rwanda. Kagame’s regime remains obsessed with appearances over substance. Not long ago, we witnessed another surreal scene: people literally scrubbing trees with soap and brushes. They forgot the leaves though. 😳

Footage from Équateur, DRC where communities report the arrival of large numbers of Mbororo pastoralists from Central Africa, moving in with their cattle without restriction. Some local observers link them to M23 networks and Kagame’s broader strategy in the region. What is clear is that the balkanization of the DRC is no longer theoretical. It is unfolding in North and South Kivu under M23 control. The Mbororo, traditionally pastoralists following seasonal routes, are not new to the region. But their presence on this scale raises the risk of violent clashes with farming communities already under pressure. The pattern is consistent, populations are displaced, territories destabilized, and parallel power structures created - all serving Kagame’s project of control beyond Rwanda’s borders.

I received the 2025 Difference Day Honorary Title for Freedom of Expression from VUB & Université libre de Bruxelles. In my remarks / acceptance speech Before the rectors of both universities, academics, journalists, and human rights defenders, I used that moment not to celebrate, but to name contradictions. I was honored for speaking freely, while in Rwanda - the country I come from - those who dare to speak are silenced, imprisoned, exiled, or killed. I spoke the names that Kagame’s regime tries to erase like Kizito Mihigo, Innocent Bahati, Boniface Twagirimana, Diane Shima Diane Rwigara & John Williams Ntwali. These are not isolated tragedies / cases. They reflect a system built on fear, repression, and the elimination of dissent. I also reminded the audience that Kagame’s regime extends its violence beyond Rwanda’s borders into the Democratic Republic of Congo, where millions have died in conflicts fueled by Kigali’s direct involvement, documented by the United Nations and human rights groups. Rwanda is too often praised abroad as a “success story.” Clean streets and growth statistics are showcased while the prisons, disappearances, and wars are ignored. This is not stability - it is repression, marketed to the world. My message was clear: Donors must attach real human rights conditions to aid, Journalists must investigate disappearances and political prisoners, Universities must preserve testimonies and provide space to exiled scholars, Policymakers must stop enabling repression and confront it with action. Freedom of expression is not a gift. It is not a privilege granted by governments. It is a right. It is a lifeline. And in Kagame’s Rwanda, it remains under attack. Watch my full speech here 📽️.

Former Rwandan Army Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Kayumba Nyamwasa, claims Rwanda has long exploited mineral resources in the #DRCongo, using soldiers to secure control over key areas. In an exclusive interview with Newzroom Afrika, he linked the ongoing conflict involving RDF/M23 rebels to the illegal extraction of Congolese minerals.

I joined Jean-Emile Jammine on FRANCE 24 English’s World Round Up to discuss the #UCIWorldChampionship2025. This event is not only about cycling and who crosses the finish line first, it is also a platform for Kagame’s regime to launder its international image. Behind the polished façade, Kagame’s regime stands accused of crimes against humanity, war crimes & crimes of aggression in eastern #DRCongo. His regime has violated the United Nations arms embargo by arming, training & deploying troops alongside the #M23 rebellion. At home, it has silenced dissent by killing, jailing & disappearing journalists, exiling opponents & targeting critics abroad through assassinations & kidnappings - clear violations of international law. The UCI World Championships are now being exploited as part of this image washing strategy, masking systematic repression and grave human rights abuses.

“You have no choice…. We have destabilized the region, it's in disarray, all our neighbors are fed up of us, where will we flee to? Can you flee to Uganda, Burundi or Congo? How can they receive you? If we fight one another we have no place to go. We have an obligation to live together here in Rwanda” ~ Gen (Rd) James Kabarebe, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Cooperation. Interesting statement at times like this.

I spoke to VRT NWS, the public broadcaster for the Flemish Community of #Belgium, about the role of Kagame’s regime in supporting the #M23 rebellion. His regime has provided M23 with manpower, weapons, and financing. In turn, M23 has committed atrocities: war crimes, crimes against humanity, mass killings, and widespread sexual violence. Paul Kagame himself bears command responsibility for these crimes and should stand before the International Criminal Court Int'l Criminal Court. His regime is not a bystander - it is one of the main perpetrators. At the same time, Kagame is using the UCI to launder his image, while the organization accepts his money and enables this cover-up.

Soldiers fall in silence in #Kagame’s unacknowledged war in the #DRCongo. A captured #RDF soldier Iradukunda, presented by #FARDC in Lubero, admits to fighting alongside #M23 rebels. He reveals training in Gabiro & direct orders from Kagame. Evidence posed includes seized weapons. #Rwanda's FPR-Inkotanyi regime continues to deny its role while sending soldiers to die in Congo. We documented this before in #RwandaClassified and it continues.
