Following on from my earlier post, there is something I genuinely want to know. When I went into Decathlon to purchase a lifejacket, I was asked for my email address. Yet when I was watching migrants purchasing lifejackets and other equipment that can be used for small boat crossings to the UK, I saw no apparent requirement for them to provide an email address. So I have a very simple question for Decathlon. Why is there one standard for me and apparently another for people purchasing large quantities of equipment associated with illegal Channel crossings? Decathlon’s own French website confirms that customer information is collected for orders and that the company can refuse or restrict certain purchases under its terms. (Decathlon⁠) If Decathlon is aware that its products are being purchased specifically to facilitate illegal Channel crossings, what checks, if any, are being carried out? Because from where I am standing, if a company continues supplying equipment that is being used in this way while apparently asking no questions, it is entirely reasonable to ask where the line is between simply selling a product and knowingly facilitating the trade behind these crossings. Decathlon, I think the public deserves an answer.

This is me getting ready before I went undercover in the migrant camp. The video shows me outside the car, changing my appearance and preparing to go in alone. I made myself look as close as possible to one of the women there, even using makeup to alter my appearance. No security. No bodyguards. No big army or political movement behind me. Just me. I concealed my camera among my belongings and walked in alone because I wanted to see what was actually happening for myself. I think it takes a fair bit of courage to do that completely on your own. This is only the preparation. The footage from inside is another story.

Whilst walking through the migrant camp I went into the toilet section and honestly, the whole place felt like one giant toilet. The toilets were absolutely filthy and the stench was disgusting. Watching the bands today of the apprentice boys in Ballymoney was incredibly moving, every beat of the drum carried pride, passion, and a deep sense of loyalty. Loyalty to their culture, their heritage, their history, and to this great land. You can feel it in the atmosphere, in the people, in the way they stand and represent who they are. It makes you think… England could learn a lot from the men and women of Ulster.
