Steve Bannon is the worst human being you can meet. He’s charismatic, well read, conversant in history, and genuinely intelligent in certain ways. But God made him so ugly in order to protect civilization from him. He’s a white supremacist who wants to drag this country back to the 1890s. -Dismantle free trade. -Push black and brown people out. -Manufacture everything domestically behind walls. He is one of the most dangerous people in American politics precisely because he’s smart enough to make bad ideas sound serious. Thank you for having me on the show The Fifth Column 🖐

Britain has gotten poorer over the last decade. Brexit didn't work. Disposable income has fallen more than in other European countries and certainly more than in the US. They cut their nose off despite their economic face, a populist, nationalist, emotional decision, and now they're stuck because you can't get the same deal with the EU you once had. People are done with both parties and they want to throw the bums out. Now Farage is rising. I've met him and think he’s a con. Go read his economic proposals — some of them are hate-based, some are tribally based. Farage's broader economic proposals are populist noise that will make the country weaker and hurt the very people supporting him.

The thing that’s actually going to save us from Donald Trump is his disorganization. If he had surrounded himself with super competent people who believed in authoritarianism, they would have executed Project 2025 surgically. January 6th would have had a very different outcome. The whole thing would have been more dangerous. Instead he wants sycophants over competence. Talk to people inside the Pentagon or the Treasury right now. He’s not listening to anyone. Making decisions intuitively, shotgun style, half thought through. It’s chaotic and dangerous in its own way, but it’s also what’s keeping the worst outcomes from happening.

People can't figure out how Trump got to the presidency because they've never been in a room with him. If he walked through the door right now — even though we're always fighting — he would be disarming, gregarious, genuinely charming. He calls Newsom “Newscum" publicly and then sees him on the tarmac and says Gavin, are we good? He'll destroy a journalist on camera and then pick up the phone five minutes later. Are we good? That's Trump. You have to understand that about him. He also doesn't like people standing up to him, but he respects it deeply. Carney is blasting him and I guarantee Trump calls Carney more than any other Western leader. He wants to win Carney's approval and because he respects that Carney won't give it to him easily. When he's sitting at a table and everyone is telling him his invisible clothes are beautiful, he's nauseated by it. He comes off the plane and finds someone real and says — can you believe how these guys talk to me? With genuine mocking derision. He craves the pushback. He just can't admit it.

Let me talk about my marriage for a second. We've been together sixteen years, married twelve. We almost got divorced when I was in the White House. My wife probably hates Trump almost as much as Melania does — and that is a very high standard of hatred. She knew things about him from friends and she really didn't want me to go work for him and we were fighting for other reasons on top of all that. We reconciled because I believe relationships shouldn't be transactional and they shouldn't be disposable. If you love each other and somebody makes a mistake, you can't throw the whole thing away because it didn't go perfectly. No marriage is perfect. Every marriage is a work in progress. But I can honestly tell you we're closer today than we were before any of it happened. That's the only good thing I can say came out of those eleven days.

I was an uptight 32-year-old who'd just left Goldman. Barely any money when I started my own business. So naturally my pompous little ass joined the Harvard Club — I wanted people to know I went to Harvard. Four years of breakfast meetings, prospect after prospect. Meanwhile Joaquin is busing my table every morning. We'd chat often and I tipped well. One day he comes over and says — Mr. Anthony, you manage money, right? We've had a personal injury situation. My family just came into $35 million. You've always been kind to me. Would you manage it? The guy busing my table had a higher net worth than I did. Be good to people. All of it comes back around.

We are tribal and we are disconnected. 3 things would actually fix it. 1. End gerrymandering. In a democracy the people are supposed to pick the politicians. What we have now is politicians picking the people. 2. Massive campaign finance reform. End the separate but equal democracy where money buys legislation. Hard to do because these politicians love the money, but it has to happen. 3. National service. Whether people like the idea or not. George McGovern a staunch Democrat and Bob Dole a staunch Republican got along because they served in the US Army together. They fought in the Second World War side by side. In 1985, 85% of Congress had served in the military. When people share something that hard and that real, the tribalism breaks down. We’ve lost that connective tissue entirely. We need to find a way to reknit this country before it’s too late.

This month and every month make sure you take care of your mental health. Every morning I wake up and tell myself it’s going to be a great day. Then I hit the gym, even 15 or 20 minutes if that’s all I have, because I know if I do that, I’ve already accomplished something before the day really starts. Watch what you put in your brain too. If you fill it with garbage, it starts reacting to the world through a garbage prism. Practice gratitude by telling the people around you that you love them. Getting two or three real things done at work. And every so often — disappear for three days. Read a book, go to a spa or just stare at a wall. You have to take care of the mind. Nobody else is going to do it for you.

Trump said something to me in 2016 that I’ve never forgotten. He asked if I thought the British were going to Brexit. I said no because economically it made no sense. He said you’re looking at it as an economic decision. It’s not. It’s an emotional one. Three weeks later, June 2016, they Brexited. That was the moment I understood something real about the reality of politics in the US and the UK. Would I be surprised if Farage became Prime Minister? Not really. The Conservatives had their run. Labour is struggling. We’re in an anti-incumbency era across the entire West and Reform has never actually held power. So people shrug and say it can’t get any worse, let’s try something new. I hope it doesn’t happen. I think their policies are asinine. But I said Brexit couldn’t happen either.

Teddy Roosevelt told John D.Rockefeller - you can’t have two and a half percent of the country’s GDP. I’m breaking you up and you need to raise the income standards for your workers. Henry Ford responded to that pressure. He got workers into a position where they could actually afford the vehicles they were building. We don’t need AOC going on television saying you can’t make a billion dollars legally. JK Rowling wrote a book that 100 million people chose to buy. She earned every penny. Don’t talk like an imbecile. Think like Teddy Roosevelt instead.

Let me walk you through what happened one hour before Trump announced the five day moratorium on Iran strikes. $1.5 billion in notional S&P E-mini futures contracts. Four to six times normal activity. One hour before the announcement. Simultaneously, $192 million in crude oil futures purchased at the same time. They made between $300 and $400 million dollars off those trades. Trump claimed he spoke to an Iranian official to negotiate the moratorium. The Iranians said that person doesn't exist and the conversation never happened. This is not the first time. It has happened multiple times. He says something. The trade goes on. He says another thing. The market moves. But whatever you call it — they are laughing at you and they are laughing at me while they do it. Hunter Biden sold a painting and Washington lost its mind. These people are making hundreds upon hundreds of millions of dollars trading on information that only exists inside the most powerful office in the world. I think we are dramatically underreporting how much money is actually being made here. This isn't politics anymore. This is a financial operation running out of the White House.

J.D. Vance is halfway through the woodchipper right now. And if you don’t understand that the attack on the Pope was aimed directly at Vance — you don’t understand Donald Trump. Vance converted to Catholicism. He’s writing a book about that conversion. So Trump attacks the Pope. It destroys Vance. He forces him onto Bret Baier’s show as a supplicant. Kneeling to Trump instead of his own God. That’s the message. I will emasculate you publicly and you will thank me for it. Trump wants to be the last Republican president. He wants to tell the party — you were nothing before me. You’re nothing after me. He doesn’t want Rubio or Vance to succeed him. He doesn’t want anyone taking credit for anything he built. It’s one man’s show. Always has been. If Vance had the nerve — the real move is to resign. He won’t. He’s too ambitious and too cunning.

There are 12 chapters in Laurence Rees’s book “The Nazi Mind” people should know: Spreading conspiracy theories, using us versus them, leading as a hero, corrupting youth, conniving with the elite, attacking human rights, exploiting faith, valuing enemies, eliminating resistance, escalating racism, killing at a distance, stoking fear. When I use the word fascism I’m not being hyperbolic. I’m grounding it in a historical analysis of what leaders do when they want to be authoritarian. We didn’t even get to the naming. He wants his name on the US dollar, inside the passport, and his face on everything the American people touch when they interact with their own government. Washington wouldn’t have done that. Eisenhower wouldn’t have done that. Reagan wouldn’t. Obama certainly didn’t.

Everybody hates Donald Trump. -Melania. -His children. -The grandkids find him weird. Honestly, he is weird. He has orange makeup on, lifts in his shoes, the girdle on some days. He has to be the king of every single moment. You cannot tell him something he doesn't know or else he'll flip out. You can never be perceived as knowing something better than him. It all fits the same pattern of narcissism, but here's the other side. He can be charming. He can be gracious. He is the most powerful man in the world, yet still desperate to be accepted by people with real history behind them.

Let me tell you exactly how Trump thinks. He operates unilaterally. He thinks he’s smarter than everybody. When his advisors told him Iran might close the Strait or attack our allies he said — they're not going to do that. And then he had to admit to the press that he did not expect Iran to launch missiles at a 9 to 1 ratio against our allies versus Israel. Let's be honest about what actually happened. He went in unilaterally. Didn't sell it to the American people. Didn't consult our NATO allies. We have 25 years of evidence that we’re not good at regime change. We went from the Taliban to the Taliban. We spent 20 years and trillions of dollars and came full circle. We went from Khomeini to Khomeini in less than a Scaramucci. The biggest brain in the room couldn't see that coming.

We are ALL FAILING this country. Donald Trump needs to be removed from office. He should have been removed before the war started. He is mentally unwell. Forget the Jesus pictures. Forget the Pope. We can go through hundreds of examples. The sane washing — pretending this is normal — that's just the surface problem. The real problem is that we have willing accomplices. What we have in America right now is a complete failure of political elites to execute on the constitutional system that was built specifically for this moment. We are all accomplices to this man's reckless behavior. -Every senator who stays quiet. -Every executive who writes the check. -Every commentator who normalizes it. He needs to be removed from office and he won't be.

Trump's personality is simple once you understand it. You were nothing before I got here. I've carried you for twelve years and when I leave, you'll be nothing again. Two examples: 1. Cornyn - 35 years in the Senate, voted with Trump 99% of the time. The 1% he didn't — Trump dusted him. 2. Crenshaw - Lost his eye in combat serving this country, voted with Trump 99% of the time. The 1% he didn't — Trump endorsed his opponent. He lost the primary. And still people try to normalize this. People will tell you he'll want Vance or Rubio to succeed him because that's what a normal Republican would want. He doesn't want those guys succeeding him. He doesn't want them taking credit for anything. There's one spotlight in this administration and it points in one direction. To not understand that is to not understand Donald Trump.

After years of telling everybody else how to run the country and months of deliberation, I have a special announcement: I’m running for President of the United States in 2028. I am aware of what happened the last time I worked in the White House. But I do believe I can help guide this country in the right direction. Join me and help me heal America. Mooch 2028 🇺🇸

The dollar didn’t just weaken — it quietly robbed you. Down 28% in five years. My parents bought their house in 1962 for $16,000. Back then, gold was $35 an ounce. That house cost 457 ounces of gold. Today, the house is “worth” $750,000. Gold is about $3,300 an ounce. That same house is 227 ounces of gold — half the real value. Everyone thinks they got rich. They didn’t. The measuring stick got warped. That’s the scam of inflation. Prices go up, politicians get away with it. People confuse bigger numbers with more wealth. A million dollars today feels impressive — until you realize it’s the purchasing power of about eighty grand in 1970. You’re not richer. The currency is weaker.

Trump is not Xi, he's not Putin, he's not Stalin. He doesn't have the patience, the energy, or the organizational discipline to build a true infrastructure of authoritarianism. And he's up against a system that's worked for 250 years and isn't going down without a fight. So here's my prediction: by the end of 2028 he becomes largely irrelevant. -He'll make billions of $$$. -He'll pardon himself. -He'll pardon the family, pardon everyone in his orbit who's been doing the insider trading, the meme coins, the crypto nonsense, the corruption. The one scenario that changes everything is if he dies in office. God forbid — I'm not wishing that on anyone. But if Vance takes over and eventually gets ousted, the family is in serious trouble. You can't hide multi-billion dollar corruption without a sitting president to issue the pardons. That's the whole architecture of the exit strategy and I think he's thought about it more carefully than people realize.
