.Vivek Ramaswami has disgraced himself. Ramaswamy started with soaring rhetoric, post-partisan, data-dependent, technology entrepreneur, here to bring good government to the American people. But like the pigs at the end of Animal Farm: they despised the two-legged farmers, by the last chapter they’re living in the house, up on their hind legs, little vests on, pocket watches. They became exactly what they abhorred. That’s what happened here. In order to win, politicians break their first principles. They abandon their righteous philosophies and sink into a scum position. Ramaswamy did that to himself. I think he loses this election and I think he’s finished himself as a future candidate.

My parents paid $16,000 for the house I grew up in. It’s now worth $783,000 on Zillow. Sounds like they made a fortune, right? In gold terms, that house cost 450 ounces in 1962. At today’s gold price, it’s worth 250 ounces. The house actually lost value. Politicians get away with robbing working class people blind because most people don’t realize their nominal gains aren’t real gains. They think they’re inflation-adjusted rich, but they’re not.

I’ll stipulate that Trump is an agent of Putin. Go down the checklist. 1. Destroyed the Western alliance? Putin wanted that. 2. Threatened a NATO ally over Greenland? Putin wanted that. 3. Pulled out of the intermediate nuclear pact? Putin wanted that. 4. Withdrawing 25-40,000 troops from Western Europe while Russian bellicosity is rising? Putin wanted that. 5. Russian satellites giving coordinates to Iranians killing our soldiers, and his response is “they kill us, we kill them”? What American president says that? I think he’s been compromised. The election of Donald Trump may be the greatest foreign policy success in post-Czarist Russian history.

If Democrats take both chambers, here’s what happens on day one. Trump pardons himself, his family, and everyone within 250 feet of the Oval Office. Not out of loyalty, but because he needs them not to testify. Then he tries to make $20 billion on the way out, while calling the affordability crisis a hoax. Here’s the paradox: as he gets worse, he becomes less powerful, and that makes him more dangerous. The people around him are already doing the math. They’re not going to jail for this guy. It ends in darkness for Donald Trump and a brighter horizon for America. From my conversation with Nicolle Wallace at The 92nd Street Y, New York

Trump doesn’t care and people who think he does don’t really understand him. He’s on the campaign trail talking about candidates’ body parts and going through the motions while making it entirely about himself. His message to fellow Republicans: you were nobodies before I got here, and you’ll be nobodies after I leave. A good leader grooms a successor, promotes one. That’s what great CEOs do, what great leaders at any level do. Trump is a nihilist so he’d rather burn the place down than let someone else rise on his watch. Watch for that happen more and more over the next two years.

This isn’t apocalyptic. It’s just math. 10-year treasury at 6%. $40 trillion in debt. Do the math. That’s $2.4 trillion in annual interest payments. Larger than the entire Social Security disbursement. You cannot sustain that. Here’s the solution: just going back to the Clinton tax rates and making a few adjustments, you could save $10 to $12 trillion in deficit spending over the next decade and get this thing under control. No Republican is going to do that. Trump isn’t going to do that. And when Trump leaves office, he will be personally responsible for 42% of all the national debt in American history.

Stay in the game. Woody Allen said 80% of life is just showing up. He’s right. In 2008, I was close to going out of business. A Goldman partner friend told me to shut it down. I said: I’m going to go down in a blaze of glory. That was 22 years ago. You’re going to get hit. The only question is whether you stay in or walk away. Stay in the game guys!

Median income in America: $83,000. Median home price: $400,000. The math doesn’t work. You can’t afford the house. This is the richest country in the world on a per capita basis, but the wealth is so top-heavy that middle and lower income people are skipping dental appointments, skipping doctor visits, and driving around with dented cars because they can’t risk the insurance premium going up. It’s not getting better. It’s worsening. And nobody in power seems to think that’s a problem worth solving.

I live in New York and I’m a minority partner in my own life. My general partners are Donald Trump, Mayor Mamdani, and Governor Hochul. Because when a dollar comes in, I get to keep $0.48. But here’s what I want everyone listening to understand, even if you’re in a lower tax bracket than me, these people are your partners too. They run your streets, your subway, your sanitation, and your city. Good executive leadership mean a cleaner road, a better subway, trains running on time. This leads to tourists coming in, going to your restaurant, seeing a Broadway show, buying from your shop. When you check out of civic life, you’re failing your responsibility to the people around you. I don’t want to live in a barbed wire McMansion behind a security perimeter while my neighbors are suffering. I want the people around me to look up and say, my kids are going to have a shot at a great life in America.

Who could actually become president from the Democratic side in 2028? -Josh Shapiro -Jon Ossoff -Gavin Newsom I am not sure Gavin can get the job because he’s been stuck in California politics for three decades and he might not see what Ossoff and Shapiro see. If you put a gun to my head, I’ve got it down to Shapiro and Ossoff. And I say that as a Republican. You cannot put another Republican in that seat right now because it’s running red hot with MAGA. Nobody can escape that brand. Here’s the deeper problem though. Trump showed every future president how to expand executive power. He went after the norms and standards of the presidency in ways no previous president dared. So whoever comes next has to be someone willing to do the antithetical thing: reconstruct the constitutional guardrails, give power back, and make things fairer. That’s a rare person, who do you think that is? 👇🏼

When I got into Tufts, my guidance counselor John Zanetti came to our house. Zanetti told my father, you have to send Anthony to this private school. It’s down the block from Harvard. Don’t send him to the state school. My dad was making $30,000 a year, the state school cost $6,000, and Tufts was $24,000. My dad said, we can’t afford it. Zanetti said, Anthony will figure it out. My father did two things: He cashed his union life insurance check, $10,000, and gave it to me. Then he went to his union foreman and got me a job on the stone dock in Port Washington. $16 an hour at 18 years old. Because of the Republican Party. And that’s why I’m still in it, even after Trump’s hostile takeover. Even after he decapitated the party I grew up in and installed MAGA in its place. My life story is tied to that loyalty. I had lunch with Mitt Romney and he said we should fight for the party’s future. Get it back to mainstream centrism before it’s too late.

America is an incurious culture. When I speak in the US and ask, raise your hand if you know what the Mosaic Defense Doctrine is, almost nobody raises their hand. When the president was presented with it by his own intelligence team, he dismissed it. Here’s what the Iranians knew. They watched America in Afghanistan and Iraq for 20 years. They said, when they come for us, they’ll try to decapitate our leadership. They won’t do a ground invasion, mountainous terrain, 93 million people, a skilled and educated population. Two decades of nightmarish ground wars costing $8 trillion have made that impossible. So they built the Mosaic Defense Doctrine. 31 autonomous units inside the country, went 9 or 10 layers deep. Every time you hit one layer, a new group stepped in. The Iranians planned for exactly what happened. The president dismissed it and led the American military into a major disaster.

Three facts about life I want you to learn now. 1. Nobody cares about you and what other people think of you is none of your business. People aren’t thinking about you anyway so f*ck em. 2. No one is coming to save you. Not your parents or your friends. Parents might want what’s best for you, but they worked in a different economy and a different era, so they can’t fully understand the dilemmas you’re facing right now. 3. It’s not one big thing that makes you special. Most people work their 9 to 5, but they’re thinking about getting home to watch a game or tv show. Take the next hour and go through your contacts, call 20 people, rebuild a relationship or start a new one. You’re now ahead of the average person. In life and business you can’t be 50% in, you can’t even be 90% in. You have to be all in. Whatever it is, your business, your health, your craft, go the extra mile. Partial commitment isn’t differentiating enough. Nobody is coming. Go get it yourself.

One book I’d recommend to everybody right now: How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie. It’s still the best advice I know. Live in day-tight compartments. Just focus on today. During this book tour if I looked at my full schedule I would have collapsed, so I didn’t look. I said, can I get through this meeting? Yes. Okay. Now the next one. Write down your goals. Work backwards from them, and attach yourself to the right people. You are the weighted average of the five people you spend the most time with. Hang out with people who have good character, good work ethic, creativity, and optimism. The optimists are winning. The pessimists may sound smarter, but they don’t win. They get too cynical and it eats them alive. And if you’re a kid hanging out with people who rot on the couch, you will rot on the couch. Choose your five people carefully.

We have no hereditary memory of fascism. In Britain you go to the Churchill War Rooms or bombed out areas of London. In France you go to Normandy and in Poland you go to Auschwitz. The scourge of Nazism is in the veins of those countries. It lives in their schools, their field trips, their national consciousness. We had a Nazi movement here too, America First in the late 1930s. Charles Lindbergh led it, there was even a Nazi rally at Madison Square Garden. Franklin Roosevelt banded together with people who had strength and courage and put that movement down. We don’t have that now. We have jellyfish. Republican politicians put their personal power, their personal needs, their self-aggrandizement ahead of the American public. The Constitution is still there and the institutions are still there. But the people who are supposed to use them are hiding under their desks.

Tucker Carlson told Trump about the war situation and Trump’s response was “I don’t care.” I don’t like Tucker Carlson, but I believe Trump said that. Because that is exactly his personality right now. We are in full-on nihilism mode. There was a deal with Canada six weeks ago. He tweeted about it himself. They tried to switch it up at the last minute, Carney pulled out. They could have gone back to the original deal easily, which would have helped every northern border race. He doesn’t care. Paxton said on an open mic, he came down to Texas glorifying himself at the midterm convention and it hurt my poll numbers. He grandstanded and brought Republican candidates down. He won’t help JD Vance either. His thinking is, Vance could get some credit for my greatness. You may think he’s terrible. He thinks he’s greater than George Washington. That’s where we are.

Democrats free advice: Stop writing off 80 million people who voted for Trump. When I talk to far-left Democrats they say, Trump voters are racists, undesirables, or deplorable. Don’t do that!! You have to get those people back into the social contract and go talk to them. Ossoff understands that, so does Josh Shapiro. Here’s what I’ve learned after decades of watching politicians up close. You can feel when someone loves people and wants to serve them, and you can feel when someone is self-dealing and wants to take care of themselves. Josh Shapiro is the first kind, and Trump is the latter.

Trump told Leslie Stahl something years ago that everyone should hear. She asked Trump he kept calling the media fake news. He said, I do it because I need to discredit you, so that when you say negative things about me, nobody believes you. That is EXACTLY what he’s done. The problem everyone has with him is that most of us grew up with values, ethics, and integrity. That is not Donald Trump. He figured out a long time ago that he can bully his way through any rule and if he keeps pushing harder and harder, people will relent. For most of his life they did, but we must stand up against it.

The dollar didn’t just weaken — it quietly robbed you. Down 28% in five years. My parents bought their house in 1962 for $16,000. Back then, gold was $35 an ounce. That house cost 457 ounces of gold. Today, the house is “worth” $750,000. Gold is about $3,300 an ounce. That same house is 227 ounces of gold — half the real value. Everyone thinks they got rich. They didn’t. The measuring stick got warped. That’s the scam of inflation. Prices go up, politicians get away with it. People confuse bigger numbers with more wealth. A million dollars today feels impressive — until you realize it’s the purchasing power of about eighty grand in 1970. You’re not richer. The currency is weaker.
