This is progress. Helen Whately just said social housing should be for British people. Foreign nationals need to move into private rented accommodation. Free up the homes. Put our own families first. England has 1.34 million households on social housing waiting lists. Scotland has over 180,000 applications on housing registers the highest since 2013. It won’t be long before this reaches Parliament properly. The question is when will the Scottish Government finally realise the same truth? Scots should be the priority. Not an afterthought while our waiting lists grow and our communities are stretched. The pressure from ordinary people, from groups using their platforms, and from communities who refused to stay silent is working. Keep pushing. Scotland’s people come first. Watch this carefully. A politician is calling for Police Scotland to be given more resources, intelligence sharing, and counter-terrorism expertise specifically “to defeat the far right.” As far as we were aware, Police Scotland were prepared to allow protest to continue provided it remained lawful and peaceful. What happened a few Saturdays ago was a disgrace by any measure from Nazi salutes to a group marching through the town centre chanting about hanging people upside down. Disorder of that kind has no place in a democracy. However, expanding the language of intelligence sharing and counter-terrorism to cover political opposition raises serious questions: Where is the threshold? What exactly qualifies someone for intelligence sharing or surveillance? If disagreement with the prevailing political view is enough, who decides and who is the information passed to? Robust policing of actual crime and violence is essential. Using counter-terrorism framing against people whose primary activity is political protest is a different matter. The Scottish Citizens Army wants to say how proud we are of the Springburn locals tonight. Over 1,000 people came out to peacefully make their voices heard after the terrible attack on a young girl in the park. This isn’t right wing or left wing politics. It’s not about agendas. It’s about women and children being raped and living in constant danger in their own communities especially with how migrants are being housed in these areas. Enough is enough. Protect our women & kids. Scotland deserves safety. 🏴

SECOND DAY IN A ROW. On 12 July, the Gorbals community came together to protest after reports that two young girls had been followed on the street leading to the new children’s play park at Gorbals New Park (G5 0SL). Today, a local grandmother says she saw a different man on his own return to the park for the second day in a row. According to her account, he walked past other empty benches and chose to lie on a bench close to where children were playing, despite having no children with him. She challenged his presence. Parents and grandparents have every right to remain vigilant around places where children gather. If you witness behaviour that genuinely concerns you, report it to Police Scotland and continue looking out for one another.
