We have to make decisions to protect women's sports. Otherwise, we would lose women's sports. It's as simple as that. Had a great chat with Piers Morgan Uncensored. We talked about the importance of protecting women's sport, how our organisations should be forging closer relationships with governments so they can harness the power of sport for the benefit of health, education and the vibrancy of local communities. We reflected on my LA84 medals and cast forward to LA28. Piers asked me why I want to become IOC President and we shared a few stories. You can watch the entire interview on YouTube.

As the final days of the election are upon us, I wanted to share with you all the 5 key pillars of my manifesto that I feel makes me the strongest candidate for the role of President of the IOC. These have been developed not only from my views and passions, but also from all the many conversations I have been having with members to get their input and ideas also. My manifesto is all about the Olympic and Paralympic Games being the greatest STAGE on earth, and in that theme - has 5 core pillars. → Sport First: Prioritise excellence, protect women’s sports, anti-doping, fairness → Tomorrow’s Generation: Inspiring youth, sustainability commitments, embracing technology → Athletes at the Heart: Welfare, commercial recognition, governance involvement, experience → Growth: New revenue models, smart partnerships, our brand equity → Empowerment: Of all IOC members, athletes, NOC’s, IF’s and partners Starting today, and over the next 2 days I will share with you my thoughts on each one and why I think they are vital for the future of our movement. Firstly I want to share my experience as an athlete in the Movement and why it shapes my manifesto today.

People ask me why I want to be the President of the IOC. For me it’s simple. This is not a job, it is a passion. I have spent my whole life in sport, as an athlete, leading sports organisations, delivering sports events and creating commercial partnerships that help sport grow and flourish. We all have strengths and weakness. I know that one of my strengths is my ability to build teams and take people with me. To properly connect people, organisations and politicians to sport you have to really know and understand sport from multiple perspectives. I hope this part of my conversation with Piers Morgan Uncensored explains why I set out on this journey. ➡️ ➡️

The moment I never ever want to miss at any event is going down to the warm up track. It gives me an opportunity to chat to the athletes, chat to the coaches and talk to the teams about their ambitions for the year - what’s going well, what isn’t going well. It’s primary information which every federation president needs to lap up. European Athletics #Apeldoorn2025

⭐ ATHLETES AT HEART VISION Athletes are the heart and soul of the Games. Without them, there is no Olympic Movement. I stand for Team Athlete, we need to ensure care and fairness for them at every single stage: before, during, and after their sporting involvement. I will prioritise athletes’ physical, mental and financial welfare, expand resources and support programmes, with the help of our commercial partners, to address the pressures faced by athletes today and ensure they are better equipped for post competition careers. I believe financial reward is long overdue and will create shared-value models where athletes benefit from the Games’ commercial success, recognising them as essential partners. No decision should ever be made on behalf of an athlete or the athletes as a collective group without their input. Their voices must be at the heart of every major decision we make. ➡️

⭐ SPORT FIRST VISION Gold standard sport is the lifeblood of the Olympic Movement. If it is not front and centre the Games lose their soul, their magic and their meaning. Many of you feel we must reaffirm our commitment to sporting excellence. There is concern that we are losing focus on what makes the Games special: the pursuit of stellar human achievement through fair competition. You have told me about the importance of protecting the integrity of women’s sport, about setting clear policies, ensuring doping never tarnishes the values we stand for and maintaining focus on sport and athletes for the full Olympic cycle. My pledge is to maintain a laser-like focus on sporting excellence, to strive to ensure every competition is conducted at the highest level, prioritising fairness and opportunity for all athletes, regardless of background, to perform at their best. Do watch the video where I lay out in more detail my plans for putting sport back at the heart of what we do. ➡️

⭐ TOMORROW’S GENERATION VISION The Olympic Games and Paralympic Games are symbols of hope and aspiration, especially for young people. Sport is probably the most potent social worker we have in all our communities, particularly hard pressed communities. It is also, if utilised properly, probably one of the deftest diplomats on the international scene. There is a wealth of data to confirm that younger generations are predominantly concerned with the same issues – climate change, diversity, inclusion, discrimination, mental health, peace and security. Our development programmes must speak to those who will be future competitors, coaches, fans and spectators about the issues that move them. I will ensure the Games inspire and capture the imagination of young people worldwide. I will embed ambitious environmental goals and I will embrace AI to modernise fan engagement, talent identification and sport delivery. In 2005, I presented the Bid for the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. I closed that speech with the words "youth of today, the athletes of tomorrow and the Olympians of the future” I believed it then, and I still believe it now - the future success of our movement will be determined by the youth of today. ➡️
