Reports coming out of Germany show a government sidelining patient autonomy and limiting people's abilities to act on their own convictions when they face medical decisions. That is why Friday, I sent a letter to Germany's Federal Minister of Health, Nina Workin. In my letter, I made it clear that Germany has the opportunity and the responsibility to correct this trajectory, to restore medical autonomy, to end politically motivated prosecutions, and to uphold the rights that anchor every democratic nation.

Today Dept. of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and I secured a major win for animal welfare. Ridglan Farms will transfer its remaining 475 beagles out of a research breeding facility and into the care of a no-kill rescue, where they can begin the path to adoption. Thank you, Lara Trump, for championing this issue. We are also launching a new NIH office, ORIVA, to speed the transition away from animal testing and toward modern, human-based science. We will keep fighting for humane treatment of animals, better science, and accountability.
