Reports coming out of Germany show a government sidelining patient autonomy and limiting people's abilities to act on their own convictions when they face medical decisions. That is why Friday, I sent a letter to Germany's Federal Minister of Health, Nina Workin. Today Dept. of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and I secured a major win for animal welfare. Ridglan Farms will transfer its remaining 475 beagles out of a research breeding facility and into the care of a no-kill rescue, where they can begin the path to adoption. Thank you, Lara Trump, for championing this issue. We are also launching a new NIH office, ORIVA, to speed the transition away from animal testing and toward modern, human-based science. We will keep fighting for humane treatment of animals, better science, and accountability.
