🥛 From the heart of Groton, New York — right here on the Carey family dairy farm. This land has been home to the generations of incredible Carey dairymen (and women!!) since 1899. Fourth generation to my right, fifth to my left… and a sixth generation on the way with a wedding coming soon. It’s National Dairy Month, and we’re making real change in Washington: whole milk is back in our schools, new dietary guidelines are putting real food and dairy back at the center of policy, and U.S. dairy exports are up 17%. God bless our dairy farmers. 🇺🇸

On my first day Dept. of Agriculture, we told every state to send us their SNAP data so we could make sure illegal immigrants aren’t getting benefits meant for American families. 29 states stepped up. 21 blue states refused — and two SUED US FOR ASKING! 🤦🏻♀️ And guess what? In just the states that cooperated, we’ve already uncovered massive fraud. The Democrat Party has turned its back on working Americans and built its entire strategy around protecting illegal aliens. They know if the handouts stop, those illegals will go back home, and Democrats will lose 20+ seats after the next census. There’s a new sheriff in town. President Donald J. Trump will not tolerate waste, fraud, or abuse while hardworking Americans go hungry.

Today, just four companies — JBS, Cargill, Tyson Foods, and National Beef — control roughly 85% of the cattle processing market. That level of concentration has surged from just 25% in 1977 to 71% by 1992, and now to an astonishing 85%. Together, these companies operate through dozens of subsidiary businesses, creating a landscape that leaves many of our cattle producers with limited marketing options. For some ranchers this means less marketing opportunities, complicating an already challenging marketplace. We must work to address this to protect our ranchers and consumers. President Donald J. Three major steps we announced today to strengthen American fertilizer production and support our farmers and ranchers. 🇺🇸 🚜 1️⃣ The Blue Point Project in Louisiana is moving at “Trump speed.” Within 45 days, permitting is expected to wrap up for a $3.7 BILLION ammonia plant that will become the world’s largest ammonia plant — creating hundreds of jobs and strengthening America’s fertilizer supply chain. 2️⃣ Trump's USDA is fixing Biden’s broken Fertilizer Production Expansion Program and getting projects over the finish line. When we inherited the program, only 8 of 121 projects had reached completion. Many were stalled by red tape and climate mandates instead of focused on fertilizer production. We are now working directly with every awardee to move high-impact projects forward — including: ✅ An $80 million Washington state project expected to produce 700,000 tons annually of hydrogen ammonia fertilizer and support 200+ jobs ✅ A $3.89 million Iowa project expanding domestic organic fertilizer production Together, these projects are expected to unlock over 2 million tons of new annual fertilizer capacity, support 61,000 producers, cover 30 million additional acres, and create more than 500 jobs. 3️⃣ USDA is increasing transparency for farmers. Effective immediately, we are searching for a full-time input economist dedicated to tracking input costs and improving market transparency so we can better support America’s farmers and ranchers. All-in, the projects announced today are expected to increase domestic fertilizer production by approximately 4.5 million tons per year — serving roughly 400,000 producers and 290 million acres of farmland. This is an important step toward reshoring fertilizer production and putting American agriculture first again.

When I came into this role, I knew American agriculture was facing serious challenges—from foreign adversaries buying up our farmland to the consolidation of critical parts of our food supply chain by foreign-owned companies. It’s hard to believe how much of this was allowed to happen, but under President Trump, we are working to reverse course, strengthen our food security, and put American farmers first. We’ve made important progress, but there is still much work to do. America’s farmland, food supply, and agricultural future are too important to leave vulnerable. 🇺🇸🌾

New SNAP stocking standards are raising the bar for real nutrition. We’re requiring more than 250,000 retailers to stock, at minimum, 28 varieties of healthy staples. more than doubling the old minimum of just 12. That means 7 varieties per category. 🥩 More real meat, poultry & fish 🥛 More dairy 🍞 More nutritious breads & grains 🥦 More fruits & vegetables No more loopholes letting jelly count as fruit or processed snacks stand in for real food! Better nutrition for families. Stronger protection for taxpayers against waste and fraud. This is MAHA in action!

America should NEVER rely on Russia, the Middle East, or foreign adversaries for the fertilizer that powers U.S. agriculture. 🇺🇸 That’s why we launched an all-of-government effort to reshore American fertilizer production, strengthen supply chain security, cut input costs for farmers, and fast-track domestic manufacturing. The United States currently imports nearly 20 million metric tons of fertilizer annually — representing roughly $9 billion in foreign purchases every year — despite already producing more than 22 million metric tons domestically. This is an economic issue, a farm security issue, and a national security issue. We’re moving at Trump speed to bring fertilizer production back home, reduce dependence on foreign competitors, support American jobs, and deliver long-term fertilizer independence for the farmers who feed, fuel, and clothe this nation. That includes helping accelerate projects like CF Industries’ proposed $3.7 billion Blue Point ammonia facility in Louisiana — projected to become the largest ammonia plant in the world and produce 1.4 million metric tons annually right here in the United States. When President Trump took office, American agriculture was facing a perfect storm: ⬆️ Input costs up 30–40% ⬆️ Fertilizer prices elevated after years of off shoring and inflationary pressure ❌ Zero new ag trade deals in four years ❌ A $50 BILLION agricultural trade deficit after leaving behind a surplus in 2021. Thank you, Mr. Vice President. At Dept. of Agriculture, we are working every day to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in SNAP, as well as the 15 other nutrition programs we administer. On any given day, we are spending nearly $400 million to feed those most in need — children, the elderly, and the disabled. We are holding accountable the states and individuals that have abused the system, while partnering closely with the states that actually want to help us restore integrity and transparency. It is no coincidence that many of the states leading the way are strong conservative states committed to fiscal responsibility and program integrity. We have already accomplished a great deal, but there is still much work to do. Under President Donald J. SNAP fraud is out of control, and the numbers we HAVE prove it. Data from just 29 states uncovered nearly 200,000 people with dead people’s social security numbers… Meanwhile, 21 states are suing to keep their data hidden.
