🚨 The Joe Budden Podcast says DRAKE is now the one rapper who can challenge Jay-Z’s famous longevity claim: “There’s never been a nigga this good for this long.” “One that he could argue with now… and that’s DRAKE.” “I want Drake to FLIP that line on him so bad.” The crew says Jay wasn’t necessarily the hottest rapper at every point, naming 50 Cent, Nelly & Eminem as artists who had hotter moments, but argues Hov’s ability to remain near the top while others came and went is what separated his run.

🚨 Wayno PUSHES BACK on 50 Cent saying Jay-Z was NEVER dominant and says the conversation is turning into REVISIONIST HISTORY. Wayno admits Jay couldn’t touch Pac, Biggie or Nas when Reasonable Doubt dropped, and even says Mase was hotter after Pac & Big died. But he says people are going too far acting like Jay never had his moment: “What about when Vol. 2 sold 5 million?” “At that time, Jay-Z was regarded as the BEST rapper.” Wayno also says there NEVER was a time when niggas would argue, BAR FOR BAR, that 50 Cent was the best rapper.”

🚨 Akademiks says Jay-Z dropping an album basically EVERY YEAR made his run “look like dominance,” and argues his success allowed him to rewrite how people remember his career. “He was like NBA YoungBoy of back then.” Ak says Jay stacking No. 1 albums wasn’t the same as actually having the biggest rap album every year: “He just got a number one.” He argues Jay was CONSISTENT, but says 50 Cent had the type of commercial peak that represented real dominance. “50 is the definition of dominance.” “Jay-Z was never dominant. He was consistent, he was never dominant.”

🚨 Joe Budden says Elliott Wilson watched the media game change RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM, refused to adapt, and is now “FLOUNDERING.” Joe reveals Elliott allegedly turned down Everyday Struggle because the money wasn’t enough, while Joe took the low-paying gig for visibility and says it changed his entire trajectory. Then Joe gets even more direct about media personalities who rely on big companies for access: “You niggas that’s GUEST-BASED… you can’t get that guest.” “That guest is coming because of who the fuck you SIGNED TO.” Joe says Elliott spent years with major companies and industry resources, but now appears to be making moves from “a state of desperation.” “The game has changed too many times in front of Elliott, and he’s changed absolutely NOTHING.” He also brings up SaVon Slater publicly accusing Elliott of owing him money: “You don’t treat people like that and think that you still about to be regarded at the same stature.” “Elliott Wilson, that’s NOT OKAY.” Via The Joe Budden Podcast

🚨 Akademiks tells Joe Budden he CAN’T let Fat Joe keep talking crazy about his money, his seats and even how he SMELLS. Ak claims Budden is making around $3M a month from Patreon and says: “Fat Joe’s not making no $20 million a year… let’s go BAND FOR BAND.” He tells Joe to stop sitting in the “Groupon seats” and go CENTER COURT: “How you letting the other Joe OUT-JOE YOU?” Then on Fat Joe saying he smells better: “I worked with you the whole time at Everyday Struggle. You NEVER had an odor.”

🚨 Akademiks says if Drake had become the “Ja Rule” of the Kendrick battle, he would’ve viewed it as a FAILURE of his own media power Ak says he carried advice Donald Trump Jr. gave him during their interview into the battle: “No matter if you’re Team Kendrick or Team Drake, just make sure you’re on the winning side.” Ak says that didn’t mean deciding who won the rap battle, it meant making sure the artist he backed never became irrelevant afterward: “If Drake ended up being Ja Rule, I looked at that as the end of me.” He says getting the OVO chain engraved “THE WAR IS OVER” felt like confirmation: “To me, the job was done.” Ak says Drake’s Iceman run felt like a championship for him too because it proved his belief that even if the rest of media goes the other way, an artist he fully backs can still survive. “If I am solidly down with whoever this person is, we’re going to make it.” He also points to 6ix9ine as another artist he stayed behind after the industry turned on him, saying an artist surviving is proof of his own media influence. 🚨 Akademiks speaks on Drake & J. Cole NOT submitting their music to the GRAMMYs and says Kendrick Lamar’s dominance has made artists feel like the outcome is already decided. Ak says the Grammys “OVERCORRECTED” after Macklemore beat Kendrick for good kid, m.A.A.d city in 2014. “Since 2014, Kendrick Lamar has won 27 Grammys.” Ak compares that with Drake winning 4 in that span, J. Cole 2, Future 3 and Nicki Minaj still having none. “This type of dominance is like Tiger Woods early on versus the rest of the golfers.” Ak says he understands why Drake and Cole would rather sit out than have their names used to make the race look competitive. “I’d rather not be in a race where my name is just on the nominees list to make it look like there’s competition, but I know where it’s going to go.”

🚨 Joe Budden & the JBP cast say Elliott Wilson may be reaching “INTERVENTION” territory and is starting to SULLY his own legacy in media. “I think Elliott is really sullying his name.” Joe says Elliott has enormous respect as a hip hop media legend, but argues some of his recent moves in the independent content world “ain’t coming off right.” He points to the fallout around and other recent situations, saying: “People are knocking on your door saying, ‘Yo, you did some shady shit, what’s up with that?’” The crew also questions whether Elliott has successfully adjusted from getting checks at major companies to surviving independently: “When you’re accustomed to getting a check… everybody don’t make that smooth pivot. You gotta EAT WHAT YOU KILL.” Joe says Elliott may only have “one more pass” left with him.

🚨 Wayno says by 2008–2009 people had STOPPED CARING about 50 Cent’s music, while Jay-Z was still creating major hip hop moments. “Nobody ever wanted to dress like 50 Cent.” Wayno says Jay was still shifting culture with American Gangster, Blueprint 3, Roc Nation and putting Drake, Kid Cudi & J. Cole on The Blueprint 3 “Nobody was talking about 50 Cent music.” He says he respects 50’s run and everything he built outside music, but if the argument is strictly RAP, longevity and cultural impact: “It’s NOT EVEN CLOSE.” “Please mute all that sales talk.”

🚨 Rap Life Review says Drake pulled off one of the RAREST comebacks in hip hop after people started counting him out. Eddie’s point: Drake’s numbers had already started slipping before the Kendrick battle, then after being “cold for a few singles,” he climbed back HIGHER than where he was before. “Usually in music and hip hop, you keep going down the older you get… Drake went down, then the battle happened… and he went back higher.” Nadeska says the same comeback conversation applies to J. Cole after the apology, when the internet treated him like his career was finished: “As a Cole fan, I was scared to be outside. I was scared to be in the comments.” She says Cole himself even acknowledged how bad the reaction got, with people calling to check on him. Now they look at where BOTH artists are and ask: “Is cancel culture really real?” Via Rap Life Review

🚨 Peter Rosenberg goes IN on Ye for insisting on unveiling the “Dr. Donda West Way” sign himself at the ceremony honoring his own mother Rosenberg says Ye couldn’t even make it 10 seconds without turning the moment into something about himself: “You can’t just show up and be fully normal for 10 seconds.” Then he takes it even further: “I’m sorry that her son turned out to be so weird and disappointing on so many occasions.” He says Donda West absolutely deserved the honor but argues Ye interrupting the person leading the ceremony was another example of him needing to make every moment his own. Ebro pushes back, saying it’s tough to attack Kanye west for wanting to personally unveil a street sign honoring his own mother. Via Ebro, Laura & Rosenberg

🚨 Rap Life Review says Drake could’ve had one of his easiest Grammy wins with Iceman if he actually submitted it “You’re going to win for Best Rap Album if you submit it. Just do it, bro.” They also say Drake, Kendrick and Cole are all moving into different lanes right now Cole leaning into production, Kendrick into features, and Drake into visuals. 🚨 Wayno says Kanye West BEAT 50 Cent and Curtis doesn’t belong in the same conversation as Graduation. “Graduation is a critically acclaimed hip hop classic… he BEAT 50.” Wayno says by 2007 people were already falling out of love with 50’s sound and claims Kanye beating him is part of why 50 still goes so hard at Jay-Z. Wayno also says 50 lost another battle people conveniently forget about to JADAKISS. And brings up Jadakiss’ “Checkmate”: “It was NOT comparable.” Wayno says 50’s sales don’t change what happened in those battles: “I don’t give a f*ck about the plaques.” “Yeah, Kanye won, and so did JADAKISS.”

🚨 Akademiks reacts to Kai Cenat addressing Reggie’s Pdf allegations on him and demands PROOF Kai says he’s going to the police, getting professional help and taking legal action over the situation. “How dare you play with a topic that serious?” “Where’s your proof? Where is your proof, bro?” Kai says RaKai himself called him confused by the allegation and claims Reggie keeps saying he has evidence without showing it.

🚨 Mal says the Kendrick Lamar vs Drake battle helped normalize people casually throwing around the word “pedophile” without evidence. The conversation came up after Reggie,, publicly labeled Kai that, which Kai denied. Mal says that was one of his biggest issues with Kendrick using the term during the battle, arguing a label that serious can be weaponized to damage somebody’s image. Rory agrees, saying he believes it “trickled into” younger fans feeling comfortable using the accusation online, while stressing he doesn’t think that was Kendrick’s intention. They also repeatedly make clear they do NOT know whether Reggie’s allegations about Kai are true or false. Via Rory & Mal

🚨 Akademiks says what happened to LUCKI at ComplexCon should be a WAKE-UP CALL about how artists move in LA Ak says LUCKI was walking around loose with only a few people while Playboi Carti and Opium had a huge presence at the event: “If you not cool with the YVL niggas, you don’t want to be at this festival.” Ak says when HE goes to ComplexCon, he has his passes handled beforehand and makes sure security walks him straight from the car to the stage: “I’m not here to be kicking it.” His point is LUCKI wasn’t even booked to perform and was just hanging around: “He gotta move a little bit better.”

🚨 Akademiks says the REAL reason hip hop feels stagnant isn’t Drake or Kendrick, it’s that labels are making so much money from OLD music they have less incentive to build the next generation. Ak says that’s why he keeps criticizing Kendrick, New York, Atlanta and the rest of the industry, arguing Drake alone can’t carry hip hop and the genre is missing the “middle class” of artists who used to sell 60K to 80K. He points to Drake as the perfect example, saying while ICEMAN was the #1 hip hop album, Take Care, Views and Scorpion were still sitting among the genre’s biggest albums years later. “The labels are making money hand over fist… just collecting on the old shit.” Ak argues the industry would rather keep monetizing proven catalogs than spend heavily building new artists and campaigns. “So when you ask, ‘Why did the party die?’… the industry is telling you.”
