huh, interesting. on the Waveform: The MKBHD Podcast podcast Josh Miller claims that they've 'trained an on-device ML model' in Dia, but it looks like they're just parsing question words like what, why, how, etc. this kind of bs is why people don't trust tech bros (and i wouldn't too)

a few people asked if this is the real app. well, the short answer is no, it's not. the long answer: last year, Andrei Ildiakov and I were messing around with the idea of a social app with short-form updates for small groups of friends. we designed and prototyped a few proofs of concept, but eventually decided to move on to other projects for now. however, if this idea clicks (no pun intended) with you, and you know a thing or two about launching social apps (or your name starts with Nikita Bier) hit me up. →

i know i’m supposed to be working on the Joi Planner mac app, but every weekend i challenge myself to build a side project: something small that can be done in a day or two. mostly for fun, sometimes to wrap my head around a new topic or technology. yet, i never end up sharing anything. so in the spirit of change, i’m putting this one out there. meet Ambie Journal (name pending), an app for daily self-expression through freewriting, that only allows you to create one note per day (just like a paper journal would). no cloud storage, no markdown, no spell check, no AI, no images, just text. everything is stored locally in .txt format. should i release it?
