The United Nations has become an inefficient and bloated bureaucracy that has departed from its original mandate of maintaining international peace and security to instead focusing on politicized mandates and woke ideology. If the organization could get back to what it was designed to do, everyone would benefit.

China continues to promise African countries the chance of a more prosperous future and claim its apart of a “new world order,” when in reality they trap these countries into debt and contribute to the instability that already exists in the region. That is why at our full committee hearing on East Africa and The Horn, I addressed this issue with our witnesses and asked how we can better engage institutions in this area so we may deter China’s malign influence, encourage these countries to forge a better path through democracy, and advance American interests.
