I’d like to show these MSCS audit findings to my friend Tim Burchett, Chairman of the House DOGE Committee, in case any federal dollars sent to MSCS constitute waste, fraud, or abuse. He is an important partner to #MakeMemphisMatter and is determined to solve government’s out of control and misguided spending. The recent audit of MSCS reveals a complete lack of controls and possible outright fraud, and I won’t stop until MSCS’ leadership is focused on education before personal favors. To Make Memphis Matter, we had to fix both crime and education. We’re already cleaning up crime through the Memphis Safe Task Force. Now, we’re taking on our education crisis with this critical MSCS audit. I won’t back down. In fact, I’m just getting started. We have a city to save!

Over 4,000 arrests have been made by the Memphis Safe Task Force and crime has literally been cut in half in fewer than 3 months. A full jail in a place like Shelby County is a necessary thing to keep crime down, and we saw the disastrous consequences after the Bail Hearing Room was created with the “Ability to Pay” Calculator. They even wore out the hinges on the jail cells putting criminals in and then releasing them back into our neighborhoods! My Memphis Safe Task Force DA Accountability Act will require DAs to certify to both Speakers and the US Attorney every time a charge stemming from Operation Viper or the Memphis Safe Task Force is downgraded or dropped. We all know the weak link in this unprecedented investment to clean up crime: our Soros-backed DA. I’ve often said our DA’s idea of getting tough on crime is longer suspended sentences. Well, turns out I’m now hearing disturbing stories about cushy plea deals with suspended sentences and dismissals coming from the DAs office. More to come on this! Yesterday, I made a motion on the Senate floor asking Randy McNally to appoint a conference committee to work on the Memphis-Shelby County Schools interventions bills so Representative Mark White and I can merge the House and Senate versions. Students at MSCS are hanging on like a hair in a biscuit because of chronic mismanagement in their school district. Rep. White and I are determined to get this done so we can finally improve educational outcomes for them. I will not back down to #MakeMemphisMatter. We have a city to save!

Today I was asked by NewsNation about OUR #MakeMemphisMatter movement and whether Democrats will finally get the message that it’s time to accept help to get our crime challenge under control. While Democrats refuse the help, I’m grateful for President Trump’s willingness to send federal resources to Memphis. We don’t have to live this way. Safe and clean streets are in our future, and I appreciate all who partner with us to make our community a better place to raise a family. I’m just getting started. After all, we have a city to save! During this week’s State of the State Address, Memphis was a major focus highlighting the success of the Memphis Safe Task Force and our state’s commitment to keeping the momentum going indefinitely. Memphis is the 3rd-busiest cargo airport in the world because of FedEx. To fairly distribute state aviation funding annually, TDOT conducts an economic impact study. Previous studies focused too heavily on passenger service and did not fairly reflect the economic impact FedEx has on the state of Tennessee. Meaning other airports received funding that should’ve come to Memphis. Making Memphis Matter has always been about getting better outcomes for our city. This is important as I work to #MakeMemphisMatter by demanding an accurate study so we receive our state dollars based on the contributions of our businesses. Making Memphis Matter involves a lot of different considerations, and our airport is one of them. Crime is down! Economic activity is up! Education is next! I’m just getting started. I have been working closely with Senator Sen. Marsha Blackburn’s office to hold our Soros-backed DA accountable. Yesterday I passed the Memphis Safe Task Force DA Accountability Act so her efforts to get us Operation Viper and the Memphis Safe Task Force don’t go to waste. The bill will soon head to the Governor’s desk! I’m working hard to #MakeMemphisMatter so we can pass bills like this. I appreciate Senator Blackburn’s commitment to holding the DA accountable and Making Memphis Safe Again. We won’t back down and are just getting started! We have a city to save.

Secretary of Homeland Secretary Kristi Noem thanked Memphis leadership today and Mayor Paul Young for not obstructing federal officials who are enforcing federal law by removing criminal illegal aliens who have committed crimes from our city. Illegal aliens arrested for crimes should be held for a sufficient amount of time so federal law enforcement can pick them up before they’re released back on our streets. (Stay-tuned on this as I will have a bill this year on the subject!) As a result, ICE and other federal agencies will not need to perform as many targeted arrests in our community. Thank you Mayor Young, Sheriff Bonner, Governor Lee, and others for being committed to restoring order. Governor Walz and Mayor Frey should be ashamed of themselves for their dangerous theatrics against federal law enforcement for simply enforcing the law. I’m grateful we don’t have that in Tennessee. Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris has gotten close, but I believe even he knows the vast majority of our community wants order. Those who oppose are a very small but loud bunch. They should be treated like a telemarketer selling an extended car warranty… Ignored. To #MakeMemphisMatter, we must Make Memphis Safe. When Sen. Marsha Blackburn was first elected to Congress, I ran against her. I received a participation trophy, and she became a Congressman. Let me be very clear about one thing: You ain’t had an ass whoopin’ until you’ve had a Marsha Blackburn ass woopin’! This weekend Sen. Blackburn won big in the Republican Party of Shelby County’s Gubernatorial Straw Poll at the Germantown Festival. I think there’s a reason for that. Getting a handle on our crime challenge is the TOP priority for Republicans in Shelby County, and Senator Blackburn’s determination to get federal resources here to help us is not going unnoticed. That’s why I’m asking Shelby County to support Senator Blackburn for Governor. Marsha Blackburn We need a tough conservative who is already doing the work in the US Senate to help us #MakeMemphisMatter! A Governor Marsha Blackburn will be an important partner who will continue her efforts to tackle the crime challenge in our great city. I’m eating at Pete & Sam’s as a part of my #MakeMemphisMatterChallenge, and I’m challenging Mayor Paul Young to participate to highlight our SAFE city because of the Memphis Safe Task Force arresting routine and violent criminals. Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris ? Turns out he’s full of sh**, so I doubt he wants to highlight law and order returning to Memphis and Shelby County. Let’s get out and enjoy our safe community!
