Democrats Just Killed the Resolution That Would Have Protected Small Businesses From Their Own Debt. California owes billions in pandemic unemployment debt that Democrats created and never paid back. Because of that debt federal law automatically raises payroll taxes on every California employer every single year. Small businesses are paying for shutdowns they were ordered into, fraud the government failed to prevent and a debt they had no part in creating. We tried to urge Congress to fix it. California Democrat lawmakers just passed AB 1840 to give illegal immigrants up to $150,000 in home loans with $0 down. This is insulting. Every dollar that goes to an illegal immigrant is one less dollar available to legal residents including veterans, teachers, and families.
