Strahinja Stojković (18) is the next Red Star talent linked with a move abroad, with Saint-Étienne FC now being mentioned. The same club was previously linked with both Nedeljković and Mimović. The irony is that he combines the best of the two. He shares Kosta’s athleticism and ability to cover large spaces with strong acceleration and impressive top speed. His stamina allows for relentless over- or underlapping runs. Where Stojković differs from Kosta and resembles Mimović is in his technical base. He’s a strong ball carrier with clean passing and crossing technique and a reliable first touch. In possession, he’s the most talented of the three. Defensively there is the most room for growth. He still needs to improve his discipline, 1v1 defending and decision-making. Ligue 1 could be the perfect environment for that, facing tricky dribblers and fast wide players every week. A talent like this should have had a clear pathway into the first team, but it seems Milojević doesn’t see it that way. In that case, a move might be best for Strahinja. The Twitter accountants will soon be counting imaginary profits, but in today’s fullback market the club might be missing out on even more value in the near future. We’ll see if it happens this time.
