In order for Jax Forrest to get to the finals of NCAAs this year, he had to go through Aaron Seidel, another phenomenal freshman, in the semis. They've hit each other a few times in recent history, PA state finals last year, and this year during the Okie State vs Virginia Tech dual, each with Jax coming away the victor, but not perfectly, which probably gave hope to Seidel and his fans alike. This match however, Jax put a stamp on that, with a very clean major. Here I detail everything that happened during the match. There was a lot of good scrambling, both of them have a clear understanding of the different situations they found themselves in.

Viginia Tech's Collin Gaj entered the NCAA tournament as the 4 seed after a really nice showing at ACC's and well, the entire season if I'm being honest. In his path to become an All-American stood Cornell's Jaxon Joy. Collin uses a version of the Win-Dixie against Joy that's different from the one Jason Nolf popularized, and in my opinion, is stronger and more controlled, but you'll have to watch until the end of the video to see what I'm talking about. I won't be giving any tips on how to defend what he does. Nope. Good luck. A Lehigh Valley guy, one of my long-time students, I wanted to detail at least one of his matches at NCAA's and what more fitting than this one. Always proud of my dudes, another All-American in the book!

Bo Bassett met Olympic champion Vladimer Khinchegasvili at RAF07, and I don't think Vlad was ready for the kind of pace and pressure that Bo brings to every single match that he wrestles. Bo continues to overwhelm his opponents. I gotta ask, can anyone withstand the onslaught?

At 133 on the back-side at NCAA's, Aaron Seidel met Marcus Blaze, pulling off an upset. Seidel shows some expert top riding, which changes the entire structure of the normal match that Blaze is used to having at this point in his folkstyle career, against top opponents at least. I mean, who else has ridden Marcus Blaze for an entire period? This is why, even though the 3 point takedown exists, being good on top is still extremely valuable. Here is my review, detailing everything that happened:

At 197 at NCAA's this weekend Cody Merrill from Oklahoma State made his way to the finals and had to go up against Josh Barr, Hodge contender. The full match wasn't posted on YouTube so I figured I'd jump on the match review and detail everything that happened. Here ya go:

I got a youtube dono asking me to detail Marcus Blaze's stance, which leads me to the question: What does it mean to be in a good stance? In this video I go through what I think it means to maintain a good stance, some useful tips, using Marcus Blaze as an example who I think has the most solid, consistent stance in the NCAA. A bit of a different video from me, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Got another super chat (youtube dono), this time asking me to go over Jax Forrest's slide-by in detail, so that's what I did. While I was researching videos for this technique, I noticed that there are a lot of different variations, things that Jax does when his opponent's are focusing so hard on trying to avoid or stop the slide-by itself. Jax's slide-by is incredibly strong, the big baddie, don't get me wrong, but the fear it puts on his opponents opens up so many different other options, so much so that I was able to put together a series of moves. This is something, that if I was still coaching, I would dedicate a night to. This lefty collar tie, outside control series, deserves a spot in the lesson plan. If you're not teaching and practicing these moves in your room now, you should start. Let me explain:
