I’ve said repeatedly lately that many of the people commenting on Trump’s plan relative to Iran suffer from a lack of imagination. Here is another example. Rickards is on stage with Bannon suggesting there are three paths forward in Iran. Regime change, mission accomplished or escalation. But why can’t it be all three? This is fully grounded in how you define these things. Is decapitating everyone who opposed the rise to power of Mujtaba and Ghalibaf a “form of regime change”, as Trump has referred to it? Can we once we have opened the strait of Hormuz and potentially seized Kharg Islamd credibly claim our mission accomplished? Is it an “escalation” to regain operational control of Hormuz and Kharg Island? It’s clear with sufficient imagination that these are not mutually exclusive tracks…

Seems clear that Trump has been strategizing for a very long time how he would capture Kharg Island and end the Islamic Republic’s grip on Iran, going back to at least 1988 (When he gave the quote in the attached picture and through 2017 when he spoke in front of the CIA. End.

It’s not just China that he doesn’t trust. Many countries fit this bill. What will be the penalty for untrusted partners? Not clear yet except it will be higher than those with whom we have made a deal. “If we don’t make a deal, we’ll just set a target and live with that.”
