MGM Grand Las Vegas has recently added long black carpet runners along several of its smooth walkways in The District and Underground. A maintenance worker told me they were installed to help prevent guests in wet bathing suits coming from the pool from slipping on the smooth floors. The carpeting covers most of the colorful cement flooring throughout these walkways.

The center section is still missing and is expected to be installed sometime in October, connecting the two sides and completing the truss. We can also see steel connector sections are also being installed between trusses 1 and 2, beginning to tie the massive roof structure together. The roof is starting to take shape.

The former Mirage-TI tram station and tram sits hidden behind this wall with a locked door at Treasure Island. Once the new Hard Rock Hotel opens up in 2027, we should see it make a comeback. I will try to get some aerial footage of the tracks soon. It will be interesting to see if the tram gets a makeover before they open it back up.

There is currently no access from either side. It’s quite a bit of a walk now, and there is no elevator or escalator access on the Caesars Palace side of the bridge that gets you over to The Vanderpump Hotel. Alternatively, you can still cross from the Bellagio entrance over to Miracle Mile Shops, but either way, be prepared to put in some extra steps. No word when it will all be open again.
