Significant polar cold has flooded Scandinavia, the Baltic, and western Russia, with temperatures well below average. The core of the Arctic air mass is firmly entrenched, and the cold dome isn’t budging. Meanwhile, a strong Atlantic zonal flow keeps pumping milder, moisture-rich air into southern & western Europe. The Mediterranean, Balkans, and parts of Iberia are running warmer than normal, but at a cost of a High Risk of flooding in Iberia as repeated Atlantic systems bring persistent rain over already saturated ground.
