In 1997, #Eminem went to Los Angeles to complete in the Rap Olympics, a competition he desperately needed and wanted to win, but ultimately lost. This is what he had to say, in 2020, about the loss, but also, what happened after. ‘I come off stage. I'm like, that's it. It's over for me. Eminem was booked early, just before his career blew up with the release of The Marshall Mathers LP earlier in the year. Because of his massive popularity surge, attendance increased from the 18,000 attendees in the first year of the festival to over 65,000 in 2000.
