Salaam alaikum. It means, "may peace be upon you." It's a traditional Muslim greeting but it's not just for Muslims. We all deserve peace. That peace was shattered for an innocent man last month after he was assaulted for no other reason than being Muslim. His injuries are devastating, and his life has been changed forever. This was a vicious, hate-motivated Islamophobic attack and it has no place in our province. That takes work from all of us. It means action - like condemning this hate crime and passing the Our London Family Act, which aims to root out Islamophobia and other forms of hatred. Because whether you're Muslim, Jewish, Asian, Black or something else, we can all wish peace, for all of us. Salaam alaikum. My thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family, and together with my Ontario Liberal Party | Parti Libéral de l'Ontario caucus, I am resolute in fighting to build a province where Islamophobia has no place and anyone can practice their faith without fear, violence or intimidation.
